How come French Fries now cost extra at Gasparilla's Grill & Games?

The one time last month when my family and I went to eat at Gasparilla's Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian I found out when you order a Cheeseburger is that French Fries no longer come on the side and cost extra if you want them. Instead the side options were these Chips or Bocconcini Cheese. So is this another example of WDW wanting to give us a healthy menu and why French Fries cost extra?

The GF Cafe did the same thing to me with my son's meal. He wanted pizza, fries and apple slices. The server suggested he do a build your meal where you can substitute fries. But DS only wanted pizza, fries and grapes. So I told her if she can't substitute the carrots and celery sticks for fries, then charge him for a kid's fry and he will just waste the veggies. She ended up substituting the fries for the veggies.

This is probably an example of coping with the recession/economy; people coming to Disney on deep discounts and spending less money in the shops and restaurants.

I would have to say it's just aother example of cutting back under the guise of healthier eating coupled with a way to make more guaranteed profit since most people will want fries with that kind of meal.

. . . virtual burger buns, since wheat buns have germs

Next (money) . . .
. . . $15 veggie burgers, more of a meating of the minds
. . . $10 Cokes, due to holiday and summer seasonal pricing
. . . $11 Mickey Waffles, due to extra labor to handle ears
