How come Disney doesn't do more with Star Wars?
Do they have access or rights to the whole series or just the 1st 3?

Now that i'm thinking about it what else could they do?

There must be a way to cheaply simulate light sabers.
You get to go into a room in front of a blue screen, make a few moves and then pick up your DVD at the end of the day show you fighting Vader.
I don't know!
There has to be more that can be done.
Star Wars is huge!

Have you ever been to one of MGM's Star Wars weeekends in May? They have Jedi training, stars for autographs, walk around storm troopers and other characters, and lots of great stuff for Star Wars fans. This year's event is supposed to be huge because of the new film.

No, I've heard mention of the weekend but never had a chance to see in person.
Sounds like fun.

Our entire May vacation is built around the opening of the new Star Wars movie and the first Star Wars Weekend. If you are a Star Wars fan, the weekends are magical. They have loads of SW characters in costume posing for pictures and signing autographs. They have two celebrities from the SW movies that sign autographs and engage in a Q and A session about their roles in the movies. There are a lot of other activities and two special SW editions of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? If you are able, I highly reccomend going.

I remember hearing some time ago that they were going to redo the movie on the ride - but as far as I know they never have. Maybe that was around the time Dreamworks started up! :rolleyes1

Disney does not own the rights to Star Wars. They basically lease that from Lucas Films. This is similar to the rights of the Muppets when they were owned by Jim Henson (but are now owned by Disney). Fox would be the closest thing but they really only have the marketing rights and get to show the movies on tv. George Lucas would have to approve whatever goes into the park and if he does not want it, it does not go. They do have the fill your head in the picture type deal in the shop, but that would be the closest that you are going to get at Disney. I personally would love to see a few different versions of Star Tours, but do I see it happening in the next 2 years? Probably not. I did hear that they were looking to do the other theatical movies in 3D so that is most likely taking up a lot of the time that could be spent working on alternate projects
