How close to arrival can you add Dining Plan?

I just booked a room only reservation for the beginning of March. I am not sure if we want the dining plan. If I booked it now we would have to pay everything up front right? Can I wait until the week before we go to change my reservation to a package? Thanks!

You have to purchase a package in order to purchase the MYW + dining. You need to have a rack rate room with at least a 1 day park pass for everyone in party, you can then add the dining package.

By Disney's requirements, payment for a package is due in full 45 days before arrival, so you would need to add the package (including park pass & dining) before then. They may make an exception if you call, but I have found they will only allow a few extra days.

So you can't book a package less then 45 days from arrival? I am less then that now. I have no problem paying in advance. I just want to know how fast I need to decide.

You can change your reservation to a package as close as 5 days prior to your arrival! I had planned on doing that, not being sure if we'd have our tax refund much before then. But will be changing to a package w/ dining in about 2 weeks. Under the 45 day arrival, but not as close as 5 days out. It will have to be paid in full at the time you change though if you are under the 45 day mark.
