How close is the Buzz light year wing to the main lobby/food court?

I just booked our rooms at ASMO and we requested the Buzz Lightyear wing for my nephew. He is soo excited. My question is how close is it to the main lobby and food court. Is it worrth spending the extra money to get a Preferred room at Fantasia for my husband and myself? My sister and her fam will stay at the Buzz wing. Thanks!

Keep in mind you made a request for the Toy Story building. It is not guaranteed.
It is very close though. We stayed in the Woody building. We couldn't see that is was that much further (if any) than Fantasia. If Fantasia is closer, it must be slight.

We stayed in the fantasia building a couple of years ago and paid the preferred rate. If you get the Buzz bldng you would be closer than our room was in the fantasia building. I was afraid to take the chance though as you can only request a certain bldng and the preferred was a guarantee.

The Buzz wing is close to the food courts, especially the wing to the left of the big Buzz as you look at him. Unfortunately I'm sure of the building number.

The Toy Story buildings are not a long walk at all. I would think it would depend on which end of the building your room is located but it was a minute or 2 walk to the food court for us and we were in building 10, right off the "Andy's Room" courtyard area-right near the blocks by Buzz's hand in the map pic. I would guess if your room was right in the front section of the Fantasia buildings it would be slightly closer to Cinema Hall but if it was towards the back then it would be the same or longer than the TS buildings.

One thing to consider for the Buzz building --
It's a long building (as they all are). One side faces the street (bus/car traffic). The other side of the building faces Andy's Room. (Popular and heavily visited. Can be noisy.)
This may not matter to you, but wanted to give you a heads up.

Just another post to tell you not to get your (or your nephew's) hopes up about the Buzz building. When you make a request for a particular building it is just that, a request. The only time you are guaranteed a building at the All-Star Resorts is when you pay for the preferred location, which is the Fantasia building at the Movies. The Buzz & Woody buildings are highly requested and I'd hate for you to be disappointed if you were assigned somewhere else.

Of course, even if you end up in another section you can still go to the Andy's Room area. My kids love to play there!

I hope we get that wing I will keep my fingers crossed. When I booked my rooms thru the Dsiney Club they never told me it was a request they said I had two adjoining rooms. I wish they wolud ha ve told me. My nephe is really excited but I will take your advice and have them play at Andy's Room!!

Yes, sadly not all CMs will tell you that requests are not guaranteed. The only requests that are guaranteed are those for medical reasons and connecting rooms when there will only be minor children in the second room.

We stayed at all star movies in January, didn't make any special requests but ended up in Buzz Lightyear. It's very close to the food court!
