How Close are You...

to your extended family?
I'm just curious.

I used to be really close to my mom's cousins & kids [making them my first and second cousins] when I was younger.

I'm still extremely close to my dad's cousins and kids. In fact, we're getting closer.

Some of my friends think it's weird.

Well, on my dad's side, we aren't.
They don't have kids, and they live out West...
And my dad kind of resents his brother for that.
He didn't come home for his own mothers funeral, and was never around to help leaving all the stress on my dad.

On my mothers side, we are rather close with my aunt and uncle, as they live here as well and my mother works with her sister.
Her other brother lives in another city, and we don't see him much.
Her other brother lives in another city too, and he has a kid, but we only see them about once a year.
And we see her aunt quite frequently.

I only have one cousin.

I am really close to my parents brothers and sisters, but I'm not sure if that counts as "extended family".


I am really close to my mom's cousin and their kids though.

On my dad's side, I'm not close to them at all. I haven't spoken to anyone on my dad's side of the family in atleast 5 years.

On my mom's side, I got really close to my cousins. I met some for the first time ever this July and we instantly bonded. I'm close with some of my grandma's cousins to. I don't talk to them via email or phone though, but when we see each other, I'm always talking to them! =)

His father came from a huge family.
Either we're really close to our cousins, or we don't talk at all.

I am really close with my mom's side of the family.We are so close like we hang out all the time.They are all 10 and under and we are still close.Except my other 3 cuzins which are 12,14 and 21.Like we all hang out.

On My dad's side,we don't really talk to them.Most Of them live in the U.S so we don't talk much.

Step-father's: Definately not.

Mom's:Eh. Kinda. I was really close to some of them when I was younger but we've since grown apart but I see them often as they go to the same school. And I see everyone else occasionally. I just don't talk to them much.

I have so many cousins, and great aunts, and all just on my mom's side.
It's hard to keep up on who is who sometimes.

Dads - Only his younger sister, my aunt, and her 4 kids. They're 18, 16, 14, and 11. I can relate to the older three, but the youngest and my sister are 1 month apart and they're always together.

Moms - Talking, we are close. But we haven't seen them in 7 years, everyone is in Spain and it's really hard for us to save up 6,000+$ to go to Spain. So we go every 5 years or so.

ETA - I got a story that makes me furious everytime I think about it.

My dad's older sister, my aunt Debbie, lives in North Carolina. Her 3 kids are DJ, 26/27, Robert, 15, and Kayla, 3. I've never met Kayla, and cousin DJ was killing to see us! So she came up her about 2 weeks ago. She went to see my other aunt and uncle, stopped in Easton (45 minutes away) and then drove back home.
***? She's been sending messages wondering of me, telling me she loves me, and prays for me to stay healthy. Why in the hell did she just ignore us? Her neice has been fighting a battle for her life, and she doesn't care to stop by? Geeze.

I'm close to two of my cousins on my dad's side, but they are alot older than me. Other than that, no, not really. I don't think it's weird that you are though!
