How can I plan a relaxed first Disney trip with FP+?

I would highly recommend YouTube for rides before you decide you don't want to get a fp for one. Especially for 7dmt. These are not 6 flags or other theme park roller coasters. These are "roller coasters" that many 4-5 year olds enjoy riding. Not thrill rides by any stretch. still lots of fun for older kids and adults but not what you think of when you think roller coaster.

I'd also recommend taking advantage of extra magic hours at magic kingdom at night. Those were some of our most relaxed days - sleeping in, getting to parks later (you can book your fp for later in the day), then pretty much walking on rides without any kind of a plan the later the night got.

Yes. Unless there are no rides in common between two groups, the easiest thing is to pick the same FP for everyone to start out, then change some people to the new attraction. Otherwise you will have to do more work getting the ride they want to go on together to line up.

Your first trip! How exciting!! I always tell people that the number one thing to remember is that there is absolutely NO WAY you can see everything so don't try. Fp definitely makes life easier but try not to stress out if you don't get to see everything especially since you are going during such a high peak season. I've been 5 times and still haven't seen all that I want to see. Also, since you have older kids, keep in mind that the parks are much less crowded at night! Every trip we have slept in and stayed out late. Downtown Disney is usually open until 2am! Btw, great idea about taking a rest day every two days! Have fun! I may see you there
