We're driving down to Florida this week for our sailing on the Disney Fantasy on Saturday. We're heading down a few days early and staying at the Swan on Thursday night. We wanted to go over the Polynesian Thursday evening to shop and maybe get a drink at Trader Sam's. Will they allow me to park there? We stay at the Poly every summer and I know they're pretty strict about parking. How do I go about doing this?

I believe that if you're getting some food [or drinks], they'd allow you to park there for a limited time. On our last 3 trips during the summer, we've driven our rental from Caribbean Beach over to the Poly for dinner and they've allowed me to park. You should be OK. Good luck!

As long as you have a valid reason to be there (which includes shopping or eating) you'll be allowed to park at the Poly.

My wife and I were staying at OKW and we drove to the poly for shopping and a dole whip. It was early December on a Friday evening and we were not allowed to park unless we had a dinner reservation. The parking lot appeared to be fairly full. We have parked there several times with no reservation, however a weekend could be more difficult.

When we stayed at the Poly we never parked in the main lot, especially in the evening. It took a long time to find a parking spot there. I can recommend the lot in front of Pago Pago, I would even consider parking there when staying at Aoteaora. The main lot seemed to be fairly full quite often, and this was during off-season. I found the whole resort to be very compact and easy to walk from one side to another.

If not allowed to park at the Poly, just park at MK parking lot and walk/tram over to TTC and walk to the Poly

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't risk it and would probably just take an Uber over. It won't be expensive and then you don't have to worry if you decide you want more than one drink at Trader Sam's! The stress of not knowing whether they'd turn me away wouldn't be worth risking it to me.

As you probably recall Poly parking is quite difficult. Even for those staying there. The easiest thing to do IMO is to take the bus to MK and hop on the boat to Poly. Or park at TTC.

Best bet is to Valet as a lot of times the normal hotel parking is full.
They'll already be paying the Swan for parking every night. Extra $25+tip? Eh.

I'd Lyft/Über. Bus to MK, then monorail to Poly; or walk to DHS, bus directly to Poly. Then rideshare back.

OP didn't ask what the best way for them to get there was. They specifically asked about the parking situation. Seemed pretty intent on driving their own vehicle there.

If they had asked about best ways to get there, I would have answered the question differently.

Also, not everyone thinks of $25 as a party killer.

Yeah, I have to start ignoring the potential for buzzed driving and restrict my responses to only exactly what was asked.

We wanted to do that on our last trip in December and were not allowed. I wanted to go to the quick service for Tonga Toast. lol We were told we couldn't park there without an ADR for a table service.

I'd try to park at the Poly telling the guard you're there to eat and leave. If they're giving trouble about self parking, be prepared to valet park. Paying $25+tip to have your car close is, imo, better than paying $22 to park at TTC (and have hastle of getting to/from Poly) or saving a few bucks (or not) round trip with Uber/Lyft. You'll already be in your car when others are trying to get to TTC or waiting for their ride.

Just park at Disney Springs and hop on the Polynesian Resort Bus and don't worry about parking at the Poly.

I don’t think I have ever had a issue parking at poly ... if somehow you do just park next door at TTC and walk over... sometimes they ask why we are there but most of the time they check ID and wave us on through .

We were just at Poly last Thursday and the construction on WDW roads, especially in that area, was nuts. If it were me staying at Swan, I would boat/walk over to DHS and catch the bus to Poly from there. Avoids driving/parking hassles, lets you have another drink, and its free!
