Hello,
I have been lurking for a little while now and this is my first post. So, HELLO EVERYONE.

I need assistance. I am planning a Magical Gathering for my family of about 30 people. I finally received an email code for a resort discount. We will be visiting June 18 - 23rd. My situation is my DH HAS to stay in a hotel that has hallways that lead to the rooms rather than the motel style of the moderate or value style resorts. I love the idea of staying at the Swan but I also love the price of Pop Century @ $59.99 a night or Port Orleans @ $79.99 a night. Here is where the issue lies. We are paying for my mother in law to come with us and getting her own room because of the size of out family. It is me and my husband, a nine y.o. girl, six y.o. boy, and an infant. Mom in law wants to stay at Pop Century because other family members are staying there. We would like to use the code for her MYW dining package. Then use AAA for our room @ the Swan. I don't know how to do this because my name would have to be on the reservation with her at the POP but I don't want the dining package. What can I do? I'd hate to let my email code go to waste... Please help..

Thanks~

I have no idea how to help you in your situation (but hey, my post bumps up your thread so hopefully someone else can help?)

But I wanted to say we're going abou the same time as you and I sure do wish *I* had an email code. How'd you get a code? I never get codes. *pout*

So far they won't allow you to book a package if you use a code. (I hope this changes soon)

Right now the only way to get a discount on the room when booking a package, is book through AAA.

You're right about a couple of things...

a) If you are the one who received the code, you would need to be staying at the resort, at least on paper. You can reserve more than one room with the code but you, yourself, must be there at check in.

b) If you want the dining addon for one person, you would need it for everyone registered in that room.

However, I'm not sure that you realized that the dining addon is only available when you book a package. You cannot get it with a room-only reservation. If the code you received is for a package, then you've got a decision to make as to whether it is worth it to register as a guest in your mother's room and pay for the tickets & the dining option for yourself as well as her. You can still stay at the Swan with your DH. Hey, DIsney doesn't care if you're paying for 2 in the room but only have 1 person in there! They would care if you registered 2 guests and had 8 people in there!

But if the code is a room-only code, then the decision has already been made for you. You cannot add the dining option on to just a room ressie.

When I called to get information about my code they said I could either book room only or a package. They actually asked me which one I was interested in.

So I am guessing that I should go ahead and book a package for her and myself. While I am at it I may as well include the two kids on the plan since it would only be an extra $20 a day. We normally do two sit downs on a vacation but since Mom really wants the the dining package we may as well take advantage.

If anyone else has any ideas... Please still post. Thanks everyone...

I've only thought about this for maybe a minute so I haven't really thought of all the implications, but ...

COuldn't you make a reservation for in your name at Pop and then have your mom's name with your DH at Swan? Just give your mom the room key card.

Or,
I think this is a good way to get a few dining packages without having to get it for everyone. Just put whomever you would like on the package with meal option and then put everyone else on the Swan room. (of course, I am talking about putting it on paper. Not that you would actually have to sleep there.)

That sounds like a good idea. Does anyone know if we would have to switch room keys to get into the park since they check picture id's? Or will the resorts give us actual tickets for the MYW dining plan?

All I can say is GOOD LUCK with 30 people. I went on a family trip with only 10 a few years ago and I hated it. Now if you plan on breaking up into smaller (much smaller) groups, then you shouldn't have too many problems.

I cant imagine the CRO Cm cant help you with your question about booking two seperate rooms, with one email code? What confuses me, isnt the Swan a Starwood Resort, and not part of the email code? Do you have the 800# to take advantage of asking questions? I have it saved on my other computer, but if you do a search here at the dis it will pop up for sure!! :wizard:

Yes. I have talked to the CMs using the number on the email. I can not use the code at the Swan but can at the Pop. My question was what would be the best way for me to still take advantage of the code since I am paying for my mother in law to have her own room at the Pop but I am not staying in the room. My family is staying at the Swan on an AAA rate.

Also we are going with 30 people but splitting into much smaller groups and coming together for only meals with PS and a few shows.
