Hello Everyone! :)

I hope I explained it clearly. How can I make my wedding and reception truly feel like we are at Disney without being in a theme park? We are going to do a dessert party, but aside from that...what can I do? How can it be made more unconventional? I am totally stressing out about it. We are using outside vendors. I look forward to your feedback. Thanks!

Check out my PJ.......my wedding was at home Disney castle themed and I did it all by myself........:thumbsup2

Do you want to have characters? While not really unconventional, it would definitely scream DISNEY!

Have you played around with the Wishbook on the DFTW website? The prices and stuff aren't necessarily correct, but you might get some ideas from the options there.

Have you considered the photo booth, caricature artists, stuff like that? They might get expensive, but they could double as "favors".

First of all take a deep breath. There's no reason to stress. You're wedding will feel Disney-like to your guests simply because they are on Disney property, honest! People don't forget that they're on a Disney vacation. A Disney themed cake will help theme remember where they are as well.
The simplest way to make your reception feel more disney is to make your favors disney themed. Even a simple "glass" slipper full of candy will get guests in the proper Disney mood.
Ask about placing some framed pictures of Disney couples at your cake table or seating card table or even at each of the guest tables. You can purchase lithographs and other types of Disney artwork at any of the parks or online, then get frames at the dollar store. You'll also have some great souvenirs of your wedding this way.
You can also ask about adding a Disney picture to menu cards at the guest table, or attaching a mickey charm to each of the napkins. You could even get disney themed ribbon to tie around each napkin, or glue three rhinestones in the shape of a mickey to the ends of each ribbon.
Of course, don't forget to have a few Disney songs played at the reception or during the ceremony. . .or both!
Best of luck hon.

Thanks. I'm in the process of reading it now. :)

Yes, I will have characters. I'm waiting to hear back from my wedding coordinator if its possible to have characters that aren't the normal ones. If I can't I'm still going to have characters. I think the Major Domo would be nice...a trumpeteer...I saw that in the Wishbook. We definitely want to do caricature artists, just trying to figure out if one is enough. Thanks for the reminder!

No reason to stress? :3dglasses You have given me several ideas for me to consider. Perhaps I could get "crafty." I'm not that good, but it is relaxing and something to enjoy. Thanks!

I do agree that it will feel Disney no matter what. But, if you want to add something to it I'd recommend looking through some Disney artists work. Maybe finding a style there could work throughout your wedding without feeling like the typical look. Or maybe try vintage-style Disney (there's my wedding poking through). They've had a resurgence of the classic look lately and the soft colors would look lovely used in a wedding.

Can anyone confirm the price of the caricature artist and how many pictures they can they do per hour?
And don't you have to have them for a minimum time scale? I did get this info some time back, but can't find where I saved the email now.

Also, are they only available at wishes receptions or could you hire them for an escape reception at a resort restaurant?

Apologies for the slight hijack there!!:guilty:

There is a 3 hour minimum and I think the rate is $450 (not exact but close). An Escape reception would be able to have one but if you're doing it in a resort restaurant I would suggest you hold your Escape in a private dining room.

HTH (or someone corrects me :)
