How can I increase the odds of getting adjoining rooms at All Star Movies?

I know that Disney can't guarentee adjoining rooms when it is requested at the time of making a reservation, but what else could I do to increase the likely hood of this happening? Does faxing in room requests a few days in advance really help? What about arriving earlier (~2pm) on the day of check in? Anything else? We are traveling with my mother in law who will often watch the kids while we are out at night so it would be VERY helpful if the rooms were adjoining.

Call reservations and have your requests added to your reservation. They will see there is small children and they will note that. Chances are you will get the adjoining rooms.

Most resorts are ignoring faxes these days.

Adjoining or Connecting? They are not the same thing. Adjoining just means next to each other, connecting means with a door in between them. Just wanted to clarify before you make your request!

Every other room at that resort connects. So even though connecting rooms can't be guaranteed your chances are very good.

Dis will guarantee connecting rooms for families (i.e. 2AD/4CH in a value resort). However, for demonstration, let's say the party is 3AD/3CH. They will NOT guarantee connecting rooms since there is an adult to stay with the child/ren in the 2nd room.

I've always been curious about this. I would think they'd only guarantee it if there was 1AD/4CH. What is the difference between having 2 adults or 3 adults for 2 rooms? Can't it be expected that even with 2 adults, there is 1 for each room?

I guess as a family of six my husband and I could split up and stay one of us in each room....but EGADS its vacation.....we would not want to and maybe the resorts realize this....the one time we needed connecting rooms (CBR) we had no problem getting them.

Trust me, I know the situation as we have more than 2 kids also and connecting rooms are a fairly common request when we travel. I was just asking about the "guarantee" as with Disney, they seem to stipulate that everything is treated as a request only. As to the resorts, it seems that some of them do have a majority of connecting rooms and therefore it's not usually a problem. I was just curious.

We have requested connecting rooms several times at WDW and have always gotten them. I'd be surprised if you requested and they weren't able to but good luck anyway!

Because children cannot, on paper any way, be in a room by themselves. With 2 adults, it is *assumed* that those adults are family (partners, parents, grandparents, etc) and need to be connecting. However, with 3 adults (or more), Dis no longer gives that "family" consideration. Whether the 3rd adult is an older child, sibling of the 2 other adults or a family friend, they will no longer "guarantee" connecting rooms; only that they will try their best. In that case, the other adult must have some type of handicap and need to be taken care of and then it would be out of CRO's hands and into the special services hands.

In training, we were told with a scenario like 1AD/4CH, they would have to be in a deluxe, cabin or DVC (or POR AB) resort because the kids can't be in a room by themselves.

The splitting up is on paper. However you choose your sleeping arrangements is up to you. And, there are rooms on property that would accommodate 6, if you wanted to pay for it.

We traveled to WDW in '01 with another family. We had two seperate reservations....one in my name and one in the other family's name. But we tied them together with a note on each other's reservation saying that we were traveling with the other family. We requested connecting rooms since we had dd's the same age. We had no problem whatsoever getting them.
Just make your request and you should be able to get at the very least adjoining rooms but more likely you can get connecting.
