How can I get a Aquarium seat at Coral Reef

Just wondering if a party of four is able to sit by the aquarium at Coral Reef and also wondering if I make an ADR for when they first open for lunch if I have a good chance at getting an aquarium seat? I know that reserving for the first seating at lunch at Disneyland will almost always get you a riverside table at Blue Bayou and didn't know if that would apply here as well?

Any info would be great!

You have a better chance with the first lunch seating. Ask at the podium and tell them you are willing to wait until one becomes available. That's always worked for us. (This is one of our favorite lunch spots!)

You can request a tank seat, but there are no guarantee's. We requested a tank seat and sat about as far away as you could be. It ruined our exp. of the restaurant.

There at 5:30 on 9/25, checked in at 5:15 and requested aquarium seat. Seated at 5:40 right next to the aqarium. DS7 was enthralled and we also got a fish guide to identify what he was looking at. Table across from us was celebrating a sweet 16 party complete with sign and a table visit from the diver.

Fascinating and wonderful dinner made more special by a simple request.

We requseted the tank seat and got it, but we also had a diver arranged. Personally I would have like to have been a row or two back, because we couldn't take in the entire aquarium. We looked a a big turtle the entire time, and that was about it.

Disney Dreamer's post brought up a good point. If you have a diver reserved for your dinner, are you still able to see him well if you are NOT seated by the aquarium? I think I'd prefer to sit a bit further back and have a wider view of the aquarium...

Thanks!
Lori

We were there in Feb. Honestly a main floor view is not the best IMO. You are sitting right in front of the tank and cannot see everything. People are always crowded around the tables taking pics. The second and even the third levels are better because you get to see the whole aquarium.

Yes, and unattended children looking at the fish were on top of us the entire time too.

Absolutely agree and others should take note to your comment. We have sat at the glass many times and never ask for it. We are usually a party of 2 and seem to be put there alot. It's nice and I agree, the view is better if you're farer away. But the kids and folks wanting to take pictures gets a little distracting while you're trying to eat. I guess it's all part of the experience.

1) This is a case of watching for what you wish.
2) The closest seat is not the best seat.
3) Just like Row-1 at a theater performance is not the best seat. *
4) You see far better from a seat further back.

I agree.

I've generally been seated next to the tank everytime I eat there. This last time with my fiance, the child at the table next to me thought it would be fun to have his elbows on our table as he looked at the tank and his mother didn't stop him. I had the be the bad person and tell him to stop and got looked at like a crazy person for telling him so.

I have 2 children, and there is no way they would get away with this. But then, we don't let them out of their chairs when we are having supper.

Thanks.
I know not all parents are like that. My mother would have pulled me out of the restuarant so fast if I ever did anything like that.

We noted while there that everyone with a diver sign seemed to be in the first row up against the glass or in the booths right behind them.

I don't really think it matters where you are seated at Coral Reef. The aquarium is so large as are the fish, etc. you'll be sure to see lots wherever you're seated.

We ate there 5:40 adr on 09/22. Checked in...did not ask for an aquariam seat but got one anyway. We also we a 2 person party and where we sat there were more 2 people tables but I am sure they can push them together for a 4 person party. It was pretty cool getting to sit there and the food was really good.

If you make reservations should you request a certain spot to seat. We are going with the kids and thought it would be nice place to eat.
