How can I do this

In June of 2006, we went to Disney and stayed at ASM. We had some problems. Waiting 2 hours for buses. No fridge with a 2 year old on Amoxicillin. For our inconvenience we received 3 (3 day) park hopper passes. We are going in October. Haven't booked yet but looking at the difference in prices, with a package we won't save hardly any money by using the 3 day passes we have. Any suggestions on what we can do to make those worth why they gave them to us?

Sell them on Ebay????? Maybe then you can put the money towards your trip.

How about a split stay? Use the 3 day passes for the first part of your stay, then book a package (same resort or try another) for the remainder of your stay.

Save those free passes. You never know when you'll have an opportunity to use them, even years from now.

I don't mean to be insulting, but I don't even understand the split stay suggestion above. A 3-day park hopper costs about $264. A 10-day park hopper costs only about $23 more (no, that's not a typo). My point is that using the 3 free days and then buying additional days just totally wastes the value of those 3-day tickets.

Hold onto 'em. Who knows? ... 2 or 5 or 10 years from now you might have the perfect opportunity for a long weekend at WDW, and you'll have free tickets!!!

Are you really saving that much over maybe a AAA rate on a room only? Can you upgrade these passes to cover all your days? I would research any room only codes that might be available at that time and try to use them if I could. You might even be able to upgrade one of them to an AP and get an AP rate at that time of the year. I don't believe Oct. is super busy and there might be a great code available at that time.

The passes are upgradeable. Since they are MYW tickets from 2006 you can upgrade them within 14 days of their first use and will therefore be able to upgrade them to cover your whole trip.

I think that the only problem you will run into is if you want the DP. If you do, you may have to purchase a single day base ticket when making your reservation in order to get the DP package or it may be possible to book a package and the upgrade on the ticket may be enough to get the package. The cm should be able to help you.

Also, if you want the DP, then consider renting DVC points for your room. You will save a lot on room cost and you can get the DP without purchasing tickets.

Have fun,

Regina

From what I understand, complimentary tickets are not upgradeable.

Now, on to a different angle unrelated to what I just quoted ...

Please allow me to clarify what I said in my earlier post, lest anyone not quite understand.

Let's say the OP will be going in October and will go to parks for 6 days. If the OP uses the free 3-day pass, he/she will still need to buy a 3-day pass per person, in order to have park admissions for 6 days. A 3-day park hopper will run about $264. At the end of the trip, the OP will have no park admissions left.

So let's say the OP holds onto the free 3-day pass and instead buys a new 6-day park hopper. That 6-day park hopper will cost about $279. AND the OP will still have a 3-day pass to use at any time in the future.

Do y'all see what I mean now? If I use the free pass now and buy an additional one, I'll spend $264 with nothing left but memories of a great trip. If I just buy a 6-day pass now, I'll spend ONLY $13 MORE and have memories of a great trip AND a 3-day pass in my pocket to use any time in the future.

Make sense?

OK, My apologies-- forget the split stay suggestion. (and, no, of course I'm not insulted. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. :) )

Okay, I am sorry but I didn't know how complimentary passes worked.

Two possibilities:
1. Unless the passes are assigned to specific people, then use two passes for your husband and just buy tickets for yourself and your daughter. Pocket the other pass for another trip. This gives your husband six days of tickets free and you are only out about $500 on tickets instead of $750.

2. Call Disney's ticket office and ask for help. Explain the situation and they may be able to help you out. They may even make an exception and upgrade them for a price.

If neither of these work then I would consider saving them for a shorter trip.
