How can I book my ADR - my package is through AA?

I just booked our August trip through American Airlines using mileage points. They told me Disney would NOT receive our information until about 5 days before the official trip. No package comes in the mail. We are hoping we can upgrade to deluxe as our only option was the basic dining plan through AA. Disney said they can not touch the reservation or upgrade it. AA said they didn't kow if they even have a place to purchase the deluxe plan. How do I make any ADR's if I do not have an official Disney resort reservation #? Can I just make dining reservations using the phone and tell them that we have a package but it can not be linked to our stay at this time? If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a resort reservation # to make your dining reservations. You can either call or make them online

I would recommend making them online because you can make them 24-hours a day and it makes your life so much easier. Plus, if you have interest in dining in the castle, you can keep checking in order to see if there is room for you. The more you check, the better your chances.

Just so you know, you will not be able to upgrade or change your dining plan when you arrive. It has to be done 72 hours in advance. How that would work with your AA reservation, I don't know. Most people that book through a travel agent have the TA do that for them (since they can't do it themselves). Whether you would be able to do it directly with Disney yourself once you get your info close to your trip dates, I'm not sure.

AA should be able to give you your Disney resort reservation # - I booked a room through Expedia and they provided the Disney # as well as their own #. That would allow you to book your dining reservations using the 180+10 perk for on-site guests.

But if you are making reservations within 180 days or less, you don't need to link your dining to your reservation, except for one reason. You will have to pay in advance in full for any dinner shows or Cinderella's Royal Table and then get a refund to your credit card at the restaurant and use your DDP credits. If you can connect your ADRs to your resort package with DDP, you wouldn't need to pay in advance.

My guess is AA do not offer deluxe dining, otherwise you would have had that option originally.
I would think AA would be treated as any other travel agent. And that means AA own the reservation, and only they can make changes. and them owning it has nothing to do with being paid for or not. The travel agent/AA owns the res. This is one reason why some do not use travel agents, Expedia, etc. All the guest's dealings is through them and who they booked through. Not Disney.
Dining plans cannot be upgraded (or added) at check in. That has to be done 3 days prior, minimum.
Upgrading is between you and AA.

I'm in the same boat (but different travel company) and was wondering the same thing. Without a disney resort confirmation number, I was asked for my credit card. Is this done for all reservations to "hold" it even if you have a dining plan? Thanks for any clarification!

Not all reservations requrie a credit card to hold them. Dinner shows(hoop de do, spirit of aloha, mickeys backyard barbecue), fantasmic packages and CRT do require one and some of these charge right away so if you have dining plan you will have to get a refund if you want to use your credits.

I like making my reservations online because you can see all the available venues and times without having to ask a cast member to check several different locations and times. You can also print a list of all your reservations.
