Hi

We have traditionally always gone to WDW in August, when it is very hot, but lines are not too bad. We will be going the second week of June in 2010...right after school lets out here:yay: My parents are coming with us for their first time at WDW! We are hoping to get a 2BR at VWL. We currently have a 2 BR booked at SSR, which would be fine also. I was thinking my parents would like the WL look and feel. So, what are my chances of getting the 2BR at the 7 month window and also how are the crowds in June?

Thanks;)

Crowds will be the summer crowds, busy. You should be able to get VWL at 7 months if you call on the exact day.

Be sure to bring your umbrellas or rain coats if you come in June.

I have found mid June to be about as crowded as early August.

Early June isn't too bad, but the middle gets to be busier. Expect some longer lines, especially at the popular attractions. We usually go the first two weeks in June and the second week is busier than the first week. As previously posted, in June there are the afternoon pop-up thunderstorms. If you are prepared, this can be a good time to do some of the popular attractions as the crowd usually thins out. Otherwise, go back to the villa and take an afternoon break. With extra magic hours, the parks are open quite late and you still have a full evening to enjoy.

About mid-June you hit full size summer crowds, meaning for example close to 2 hour stand-by lines for popular rides much of the day; five days before that it is not as bad. Very hot (some like to say it is cooler than August and that is deceptively accurate; average high in August is about 93, in June it is an amazingly "cooler" 91, and like August you retain sweat temperatures all night. You can get a lot of rain -- often two to four 30 to 40 minute thunderstorms in afternoon and evening but sometimes just steady rain all day. Summer is a moderate demand time for DVC (except for very high demand time around July 4). Thus, many things are usually open at 7 months although for VWL there may be some risk as a smaller resort that can fill many times of year (along with BCV) when others don't.

The difference from your past experience will depend on when you've gone in August and exactly when you're going in June. The 5-12 of June should be less than any time later up until the 22 of August. It will likely be a little busier than the 2 weeks in August after that. Remember most schools in the south are out in May and those that aren't are almost always out by the first couple of days of June and before the time of June you're considering. The next week of June starting actually that weekend, will likely be more full summer crowds.

We have gone once the first week of August and twice the third / fourth week of August. Both times were very bearable for us, both weather wise and crowd wise. We have also gone the weekend before christmas and left the 23rd. The crowds were HUGE then! I believe TSM had a 2-3 hour stand by line.:scared1:

We are planning to be at WDW the 13th - 18th of June if everything works out for us. This will be our first time driving from MN to WDW! :drive:

To me that is the third week of June and will definitely be busier than late August, possibly busier than early August as well. The weather will be a little better than August in all likelihood.

The first saturday in June is Gay Days at Disney, which will cause crowds to swell a little bit in the beginning from thursday-sunday of that weekend. Otherwise crowds are pretty tame in very early June.

I was there June 13-20 this year, it was very hot and very crowded. We had 1 bad thunderstorm, I was visiting friends at Ft Wilderness in the evening and it was scary with all the trees. We had rain another afternoon and that was about it for rain. I got a studio at AKV Kidani at 7 months.

We were there this past June from the 19th through the 26th and while it was crowded, we didn't think it was a crowded as past summers. The heat bothered us way more than the crowds. Orlando was having unusually hot weather and the week we were there, the air temperature was 98 with a heat index of 103!
