Just trying to make the best of our points for Jan 09 - we would only have enough to stay in a 1bdrm at AKL for 7 nights but would have enough for 10 days at OKW (which is the number of days we would rather have)

but here's the thing - we have to wait til 7 months to book. how busy is OKW - would we get a 1 bdrm at the 7 month mark if we are booking Jan 5-14?

i think the marathon falls in there as well

should we book enough days at AKL at the 11 month mark then try to switch it for longer

we would have enough for a studio at AKL so maybe that would be an option too

too many choices.

Since Martin Luther King Day is January 21 (the weekend following your trip) I would recommend booking your home resort at 11 months and switching over if possible at 7 months.

I think you should always make reservations at your home resort if you are not flexable with your dates.

I agree with the other posters. Don't worry about switching reservations. I think I called to switch 3 times once. It is as easy as making new reservations.

I always book my home resort at the 11 month window. Then I am sure to have somewhere to stay. Then I start the 7 month dance if I really want to stay somewhere else besides my home resort.

That being said, OKW will probably have rooms available during those times periods, even with the marathon and possible MLK weekend...but I thought MLK weekend was a little later in the month. It's a pretty big place.

If you book a SSR one bedroom and then switch to an OKW one bedroom for the same number of days, you will have points left over. Make sure you can still bank any points that you won't need.
