How busy is it the first week of June?

I might have to move my trip from the end of May to the first week of June since my son will be switching schools in the next few weeks.

Will it be crazy busy since it's just after Memorial day and (I'm guessing) most schools with be out by then?

I recall reading some trip reports and I don't think the first week was too bad. I think you'll be OK. Most people don't go on vacation right as school lets out and I think some of the northeast schools are still in session then.

We usually go the last week of May/first week of June. It has never been that bad until our last trip. Usually we're there from around 24th-25th of May until about the 5th-6th of June.

This past June, we were a little later (actually didn't get there until June 1st). Although it was already crowded when we got there, it continued to get worse and worse. I don't know if a lot of people were trying to get a jump on summer crowds or what, but it was miserably crowded. We actually had a couple of families tell us that they had pulled their kids out of school in order to beat the summer crowds.

So...we have been when June was crowded, but still manageable and crowded to the point that you couldn't enjoy anything. It just depends. I say the earlier you're able to go...the better. I never found it as crowded on Memorial Day as I did after the 3rd of June this year.

DW, DD*2 and I always go usually the first full week of June. We enjoy that time of year as it is not major busy crowded. Most of the Florida schools are still in session at that time of the year. It does get crazy on the weekends but I think that is normal for about every weekend. I would not worry unless you start moving past the 10th of June.

I was visiting the parks June 1-7 this year, and the only crowd issues were due to Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival, Star Wars Weekends at the Studios, and Gay Days, which is always the first weekend in June. You might want to keep all those events in mind.

Ack! I forgot about those events. This will be our very first trip to WDW and it would be nice if we didn't to contend with too much craziness in the parks and transportation. Hmmm...now I'll have to rethink the taking my son out of school a little early thing. This is a private school so don't know how they would react to DS getting out early.

If I wait till January for reservations, will that be pretty much too late for my choice of hotels?

Your help is so appreciated! Thanks!

We go at this time every year. As long as you stay away from the Gay Days park of the day you will be OK. Star Wars weekends is, as it title defines, on the weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

You can see the Gay Days Schedule I think by going to http://www.gaydays.com

Hope this helps.

no, you shouldn't have any problems waiting unil January to make your plans. We usually go the first or second week of June and usually don't start making our plans until Feb or March when DH gets his vacation schedule. We have never had a problem getting reservations and the crowds have never been bad.

I've gone numerous times in January, also - and personally prefer the cooler weather and - the crowds are really low. I know some schools consider taking kids out of school these days as truancy (my sister works for the school system here in IL) - and I was going to take her son, my nephew, for his HS graduation gift, to WDW while school was still in session. She told me the truancy thing, and that was that. Mind you, June would be okay, too, and you can always check www.gaydays.com and www.gayday.com for their schedule, which is what I did before my trek down in June of this year. It really was no big whoop. Either June or January - hey - you're at Disney - what's the diff!!!!

I was just there this past June and it was busier than Christmas in 02.
The humidity was pretty yucky as well.
