How busy is fantasmic the week before X-Mas?

I'm thinking of getting a babysitter and going to fantasmic with my DH. We'll be there the week before Christmas. I really don't want to wait two hours for the show. Is it crowded there due to Osborne lights? Would it be worth it to book a dinner show? I appreciate any ideas you have!

Absolutely, do Fantasmic the week before Christmas rather then Christmas week. There are extra shows at that time of the year. The early show (first show) was the only dinner package show available. The later shows didn't offer that option. I feel you have to eat anyway; so, if the package makes it easier why not? If budget is a concern then just try to get the most reasonable meal and dine at the most reasonable place.

There's a big difference on crowd levels between the week before and the week of Christmas at Disney. Some schools get out earlier depending on when Christmas hits. Make sure you go early in the week for Fantasmic. It's not empty but it's definitely better to do it pre-Christmas week.

Also, it may be alright to take the little one if you go with the dinner package. If you go to the early show with the dinner package it may work out. The meal cost may be offset by the babysitting costs. It's not cheap getting a babysitter at Disney, either. If you have someone you know with you for this chore then it doesn't matter as much. Sometimes, an infant will sleep through the whole show. Find a good place to sit with the stroller.

Don't forget to save up for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

We went to Fantasmic a couple of times during that time period. It wasn't a problem getting excellent seats and we didn't do the dinner package ( I don't like the priority seating sections). Both times we were able to get seats in the center section, about halfway down and we didn't stand in line more than half an hour or so. The first time we went we could have sat as low as we wanted to, but it was cold and getting a cold mist sprayed on us didn't sound all that good!

As long as you go the week BEFORE Christmas, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try early in the week like you suggested. If the wait is too long I guess there will be the next year. I can't believe I've never seen the show . . .it's just that I have 3 young DS and they don't care for the loud noises.

Pammy jo, When are you going? I just booked my resort for December 5th through the 12th. I am sooo excited. I can't think of anything else. I hope I calm down in a few weeks or else my non Disney friends won't be able to stand me much longer.

We will be down there Dec 6-13th. I have been wanting to see the show but have not had the opportunity to see it. I have tried to see it for three years but it just hasn't fell into place. Maybe this year will be different.

We did Fantasmic the week before Christmas last year. We got to the theater one hour and 5 minutes before the show started and at that point the theater was about half full.

We went during value season a few years ago. I still wonder how thousands of people head out in the same direction although the park did not seem as full...

It was still packed

We will be there from 12/13 thru 12/21. I am hoping to see Fantasmic again on this trip. We saw it in September, 2002, when we last were there. I am hoping for a better seat this time. We sat down low and just to the right and while we saw most everything, I could see there were better perspectives to have. I can't wait! Mickey

Wow, you're experience was much different than ours. Actually, they didn't even open the theatre until a half hour to 45 minutes before the show.

Perhaps I should mention we always went to the last show. As I recall they had 3 shows each evening for most, if not all of the time we were at WDW. At any rate, the later show is always less crowded.

We have been the last 2 years at Christmas and have gone to Fantasmic AFTER Christmas without a problem--IF you go to the latest show.

We don't care about which section we sit in. We waited once to sit in Mickey and didn't find the show any better than the other sections we have sat in.
