How busy is DVC in early September?

Is the first week of September and Labor Day weekend a big time for DVC'ers?

We were thinking about renting 206 points for a stay from 8/31 to 9/7/08 in a one bedroom at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

I know, I know, that's a long way away, but I like to plan! ;)

We definitely needed to rent at the 11 month window for our early December in a BWV standard view villa, and we did, got it!, but I was wondering how necessary it would be to rent that far ahead for our Sept. dates.

It's really a cash flow issue -- it's hard to have so much money tied up in advance, and if we use a credit card we're paying interest the whole time -- it would be nice to just have to lay it out 3 months in advance and not 11.

You should be able to get a member to get these dates with no problem at the 11 month point.

It's not necessary to reserve at the 11 month mark for September dates. September is one of the easier times to get DVC reservations and 1 bedrooms book more slowly than studios and 2 bedrooms.

If it were me, I wouldn't rent until after the 7 month window opens for your dates - more members will be able to help you.

You may be able to find a member who will book for you at the 7 month mark with a down payment and then let you pay the balance closer to the trip date. If you wanted one of the bigger resorts I would say wait for the 3 month mark you mentioned but with VWL you may need to try a little further out.

We are going then too. I am hoping for AKV or WLV. Maybe we will see you. We have to wait until the 7 month to book. We need a studio. Good luck. It is nice to hear that it is a good time to go.

I had no problem booking this past Labor Day weekend at VWL in a 1 bedroom at the 7 month mark. We even added an additional day while we were there and stayed in our same room.
