We are planning a quick trip to DLRP in August from Tue 19 for 4 days, just how busy will it be, what are the average wait times?

The holidays have been known to be busy. Last time I went in June last year nearly all the rides had queue lengths of at least 60+ minutes:headache:

Oh I hope that's not the case for me next month....

Very busy I'm afraid. Wait times when I went in August were around 75mins for the more popular rides!

Eeesh, thank good ness for fastpass, and IASW, eh?

At least Disney isn't like Thorpe Park or somewhere though, where the rides are the only reason to visit. They are just a bonus to me, after the parades and general magic.

That said, I'll be dissappointed if I don't get to go on everything I want to.

Was very busy when we went in August two years ago but didn't seem quite as bad as when we had been in previous July's.

We found that most of the queues reduced after about 8 in the evening with exception of Space Mountain and Big Thunder which remained long.

The shortest queue I remember from August (this was a few years ago mind...)...was for the Orbitron.... That was 40 mins! I queued for BTM for 75mins, and IASW for about 60..... My Dad walked straight onto Space Mountain though.... In fairness it had broken down many times that day, and it had just been fixed.... He literally queued for about 30 seconds!!

Lasy July it was fine, we didn't have to wait for a long time...

And we did go when the schools broke up for the summer...

we are going in aug this yr
i know its going to be busy, so will make the most of fastpass and EMH where possible

but TBH im not going to moan if we have to queue for 60+ mins
that's the risk you take when booking in summer hols lol

we were there in early july last yr and it wasn't too bad

Hi we went at the end of August (24th - 29th) and whilst it was really busy in the middle of the day, we found that if we got there first thing in the morning or even better had breakfast in the park, we got so much done without having to queue, on some rides we just walked in, rock & roller coaster was one of these so I got to go on it twice within a few minutes :cool1: other rides just had 10 mins wait times posted. You will have long queues in the late morning to early evening but then it get better again. With planning and advanced knowledge it's very doable. Have a really great time

I've been twice in August and always find it perfectly manageable. If you're staying in a Disney hotel use EMH which is invaluable for Fantasyland and fastpass.

Although its crowded in August IMO the longer hours far outweigh it. :thumbsup2 Have a great time! :wizard:

We're booked to go in just over 9 weeks (NOT that I'm counting or anything:rolleyes1 ) and will be there 23rd to the 28th August. Our previous August trip the parks where only open till 7pm

What are the parks like late at night - latest we've been before is 9pm?

I'm prepared for the queues having been at Halloween but wondered what it would be like late at night in the summer?

Well last July staying late in the park was wonderful... We saw Fantillusion, Candlebration and the fireworks... We took turns though as the girls were too tired and needed to be in bed early-ish. On evening I went on my own to watch the parades/shows and I must admit even though it was soooo crowded I never felt safer being on my own at midnight. Ever since having the girls I haven't been out on my own in London (meant at night) but being in DLRP with all those people enjoying myself it was just magical!!!:wizard:

Can't wait to go back there again!

Can i ask.....

Does it get dark enough for fantillusion to be really good????

definitely, the last few years i've been in august and its been dark enough then. i've always found it magical :tinker:

We went at the very end of July last yr and it was very busy and most rides had long queues but we managed to avoid most queues.
We went in for EMH by 8.00 - did what we wanted to do then positioned ourselves for other rides opening. We then rode some of the least popular rides and did shows.
We often had our main meal at lunchtime which gave us a break from the crowds and it was less busy.
We went back to the hotel for an hr or so in the afternoon for a swim/sleep and then headed back into the parks and hit the rides again. By this time it was much quieter as a lot of the day visitors had gone home and people were eating or queuing for restaurants.
The main parade was later then (cant remember exactly what time) but a lot of people seemed to watch that, then go for food before staking their place again to watch Candlebration, Fantillusion and Fireworks.

Thank you for posting this!! This is exactly my plan for my trip in 2 weeks, and I'm glad to hear you got lots done!!

Yaaaay! :cool1:

Glad to be of help.
We are going again in July - after you though - and this is our plan again.
We dont do queues but found by planning our time without being too regimental we got loads done with hardly any queueing.
