How busy does the laundry room get?

Not that everyone wants to spend all their vacation time doing laundry, but is the laundry area much-used and hard to get into? I'm just trying to plan ahead and if I don't have to pack as much and can do some laundry there, I'd love it! Also, is it open 24 hours?

I'M A FIRST TIME CRUISER (WE LEAVE IN 2 WEEKS). I HAVE READ ON THIS BOARD TO TRY NOT TO DO LAUNDRY THE LAST DAY BECAUSE IT IS PACKED IT THERE. ALSO READ OF PEOPLE DING LAUNDRY AT 4 AM SO I WOULD GUESS THEY ARE OPEN 24 HRS. THEY WILL ALSO DO LAUNDRY FOR YOU THE PRICE LIST IS ON THE 2 PAGE UNDER SCOTTIE THREAD $$ FOR LAUNDRY SERVICE.

Have cruise twice. I do not like doing laundry but to get a head start on the stuff before I get home I like to do a load or two. First cruise, May 1999 had no problem laundry room was empty. Second cruise, May 2002 couldn't even get into any of the laundry rooms! BTW, I went when we were in port in St. Thomas. HTH

We did laundry at about 2:00pm the afternoon we were in St. Thomas. We got two loads in on the deck 7 laundry, and 2 loads in on teh deck 6 laundry. The bigges tproblem is the people that throw their stuff in, and leave. When I got to the laundry room, there was someones stuff done drying just sitting in a dryer. I did my wash, and it was still there, so I took it out and put it on the folding table. I dried and folded my clothes, and the person still hadn't come back for it.

I know some people won't take someone elses laundry out of a dryer, but IMHO it's a lot less rude than hogging a dryer after your stuff is done.

By the time we got done with laundry, there were two people at the deck 7 laundry waiting for washers, and every machine was in use.

hey - good thinking but it wont fly in our house! DH would be more than glad to do it but I have certain things I do certain ways and laundry is one of them - alot I hang to dry

However, we will return to our house by 10pm Sat night after the cruise and have all day Sun to catch up.

On our cruise DH did a 2 loads of laundry early one morning (he is the early riser) I am thinking it was Wednesday. We just wanted to was some undies and casual clothes-nothing I would care about air drying or hand washing.

We were right down the hall from the laundry room on deck 6.There didn't seem to many or any people in there early in the mornings. In the late afternoons is was very busy.

was very empty. THEN, I did what everyone
here on the boards told me not to do,

rooms are very small. Yes, I'll do laundry

We used the laundry on Deck 6, I was in there around 430 pm and I was the only one doing laundry there and then again at 10am and there was one other person with me doing laundry. All other machines were empty, we had no problem at all with it being crowded.

We did our laundry between 2:00 and 4:00 and there were just a couple of other folks in the room. The only real problem was the dryer. It took about three cycles before everything dried completely.

Hello all!

We had trouble with the irons. They didn't get very hot. I know that DCL probably does this on purpose to decrease the chance of a laundry room fire.

We did have to wait for the irons before dinner as well. Plan on wearing something the first night that doesn't need to be ironed. That way, you can enjoy the first few hours on the ship rather than spending time ironing.

Has anyone brought their own iron?

Downy wrinkle releaser and a hanger will save you from some of the iron lines. The stuff is amazing and although you can't make creases it does get rid of wrinkles in seconds.

Also comes in handy when you kid comes downstairs ready for school in an outfit that was wrinkle free when it entered their drawers and now looks like they slept in it (my kids try on and then shove clothes back in the drawer). Spray them with the clothes on, tug and wrinkles are gone. I love this stuff!

I use water in a sprayer bottle for the same effect. The clothes don't look "pressed" though they are made more presentable.

It is even better if you can get the steam of the shower to help you. Spray the clothes first, tug on them to get out the big wrinkles and then let the steam from your shower do the rest.

Does the Downey stuff work any better?

I brought detergent tablets & a roll of quarters with me, just in case I needed to do laundry . . . I had a crisis on the first day of the cruise; I had packed swimsuits in DS7's knapsack, to use if we didn't get our bags all afternoon, and somehow a bottle of gatorade opened up and soaked everything; also, I had packed a few leftover cans of diet coke from our 4 days at the Dolphin in DH's suitcase; and one can came open and saturated almost every pair of his underwear! I HAD to do laundry!

On Sunday morning about 9am there no empty washers but I moved someone's wet clothes into an empty dryer. I was confused on how the coin acceptor worked; and put in 4 quarters and accidently started the dryer for the clothes I had just moved! When I came back at the end of the cycle the owner of the stuff I moved walked into the laundry room and the look on his face was priceless . . . his clothes weren't where he left them, and they were dry! He thanked me & gave me 4 quarters.

Yes, it actually does! When I first heard about the product I was skeptical, but after the first time I tried it I was sold!

I didn't do any laundry on our first Disney Magic cruise and don't plan to do any on our second this coming January either, too many other FUN things to do, laundry can wait until we get HOME! Actually, we'll still have to do it while we're on vacation, but will have two days between our Carnival Fantasy cruise and our Disney Magic cruise so we'll do it then. Oh, I used a small portable clothes steamer on our formal clothes, it worked great so plan to take it again next time.
