DD had a trip planned with a friend which fell through, so instead of losing the money of the airfare she paid we decided to go to DL :cool1: We are planning the week of June 16 how busy are the parks that week? Also any ideas where to stay? I'm going to be renting a car, so being within walking distance is not an issue. This is very unexpected trip but I'm excited to spend a week in DL with just my DD.

I'd expect crowds since most schools will be out by then. So I'd just make sure and get there early, and take advantage of those fast passes!

We always have a car but still prefer walking distance. It's much faster getting in to the parks early, plus I don't care to pay for parking! We like the Tropicana right across the street, and Hojo's is also a favorite!

We were there in June last year, right around Nemo opening. The park was busy, but still quite doable, especially if you follow the advice above. Actually, I think nemo has taken the pressure off Fantasyland etc for MM. You should have a good time.

Thank you for the replies, we will take advantage of the fast pass. Because it's just DD & I we can always do other things while we wait to go any ride. We really want to try and go into all the different stores, as last time DH & DS are not so much the "window shopper"" and were always rushing us. It's going to be fun exploring all of DLR and DCA without having to rush.

Now off to find somewhere to stay.

That is the official starting of peak season but should be okay. The following week is when all the socal schools get out I think.Anyone want to confirm that for me please :rolleyes1

when i was picking a week for June trip, i believe it was hydroguy:thumbsup2 who advised me to specifically skip the last week that the SoCal APs were valid

evidently, peeps try to get 1 last trip in before the black out dates begin.

we settled on 6 days beginning June 28th, departing July 3rd...just hope we don't run into big 4th of July crowds.:confused3

I think you should re-think this thought. If i was to spend a week there I would:

- Be within walking distance so you can EASILY go to the park early for easy touring & FP collecting.
- Avoid the park mid day (go to the beach, go to the mall, go to a movie, lay out by the pool, eat at a cool restaurant, etc.).
- Go back to the parks in the evening with the 3-5 FPs you picked up in the morning.
- Repeat daily.

Staying "within driving distance" puts you in traffic twice a day. Driving to DLR each day creates a parking hassle 2-4 times a day (when you don't want to be hassled with it).

Purchase a 6-7 day hopper & take a mid day (4-7 hour) break every day. You won't save much getting a 4 day vrs. a 7 day, so get the 7 day & enjoy DLR when it is least crowded.

I would read HydroGuy's many tips, one addresses the advantage of staying close, & all are essential reading.

Have fun.!
