is it to switch resorts during a stay?

We're at AK for two nights of our vaction and currently 2 nights at OKW. If my wait list doesn't come thru, how much am I going to regret this?

Not a hassle at all. They will move your luggage for you. We took Disney transportation over to the new resort we were checking into, checked in and went off to the parks for the day. We came back in the late afternoon to get our luggage delivered (you have to be there for them to deliver it) and to go off to a dinner reservation we had made. Very smooth, and we transferred with refrigerated items, too!

We usually end up adding a couple of days at the beginning of the trip and change resorts. It has never been a hassle! Bell services will transfer your luggage for you.

Doctor P, how did you handle the transfer with refrigerated items? Did you put them in a cooler? We will be moving from OKW to SSR in january. Thanks!

I hate moving between resorts, unlike most people. I want to make myself at home and stay put. However, since you will only be at your first resort for 2 nights before moving, you can leave most of your stuff in your suitcases and repacking will be easy. And you probably won't have too much food for a short stay, so that will be simplified as well. Good luck!

Moving at Disney is easy! We have done it several times before and will do it again this trip. We have 6 nights at BWV and 3 at SSR. Bell services as others have said will transfer you luggage for you. They will even put all food items that need to be refridgerated in THEIR fridge! We were very impressed all of our groceries stayed chilled while stored. At your new resort just call after you are checked in and bell services will bring up your luggage. :)

Did you plan your stay this way, or was it due to lack of availability??We're making the same switch in reverse ! SSR Jan 11-15 and then OKW Jan15-20!

My biggest problem with having Disney move my bags is that it takes all day to get it done. I have given my bags to be moved to Bell Services at 8 am, and was told my bags would be at the next resort in the early afternoon. Twice I've been told this..moving from BCV to POR and from BWVs to POP. Both times it was late afternoon/early evening before I got my stuff. At POR it seems that BCV's never sent my bags over..it took 3 phone calls from the folks at POR before BC could get their act together and get me my bags...at 5:30! At POP I now knew that my bags wouldn't get there anytime soon, so just grabbed a bite to eat at the food court and went to the parks for the rest of the day. When I got home about 8:00 the bags were there waiting inside my room.
I'm moving from BWVs over to POP in Dec...I'm not sure how I'll handle the move this time...either let Disney do it or use a cab.

We've done it many times and found it quite easy. To make it easier on yourself, I would try to pack everything together that you will need at your first resort so you don't have to unpack everything twice. In recent years, we always rent a car, so usually just throw the bags in the car and move them ourselves.

We were told that our bags would not be available for delivery until after 5:00 pm when we did our move. My understanding is that the movement of luggage is doing by a centralized crew that handles all of the resorts.

We routinely move during our stays and have yet to have a problem. If you're concerned about getting your luggage moved, you could move it yourself if you have a rental car.

I was told at both BCV and BWV, that my stuff would be at the next resort by 2:00..hence my dismay when 4:00 came around and there were no bags. When I handed my bags to Bell Services at BWV, I did in fact, ask what time to expect my bags at POP. I was told hopefully early afternoon but not much later than mid-afternoon. I told him about my first experience while moving from BCV to POR, and was told that was an unusual experience...that if I were moving from a value or moderate to a deluxe/DVC, that it would be late afternoon/early evening before I got my bags because their luggage services wasn't as large as the deluxes. Go figure. Just based my post on what I was told and experienced..twice. In fact, while at POR, when they had to call BCV at 5:15 to see where my bags were, they were told that the bell services dept at BC had been very busy that day and hadn't gotten around to moving any bags to other resorts yet. Perhaps the policy has changed since then..hope so.

I have had this happen to me as well. They -do- get the bags moved eventually, but if you are on a certain time frame, it is often best to do it yourself.

I will be at the Polynesian Sept 30th and October 1st and then will move to AKV for October 2-6. I plan on throwing my bag and myself into a taxi the day that I transfer.
