How big of a deal is it to have a refrigerator in your room?

I'm staying at POP in September. My DS will be 13 1/2 months. I'm wondering if I need a fridge for him. He still takes formulas (there is a milk allergy issue, so I just keep him on soy formula). Anyway, we use powder so that's not a big deal, cause I just make the bottles on demand...I don't store them. Now that I type this I think the bigger issue is probably finding a microwave to use. Does POP have 24 hour microwaves available in the food court?

Oh, well, back to the post. Are there other things I might need a fridge for that I'm not thinking of? Should I cough up the dough and rent a fridge?

We stayed at pop last yr without a fridge and was also concern before we left about not having a fridge for are DD who drinks soy milk(have you tried the soy milk yet)My DD has milk allergies and has always been on soy formula at a yr old we switched her to soy milk and she didn't have any problems with it.Anyways we purchased soy milk before we left and packed it into our suitcase(it comes like a juice box and does not need to be refirgarated) and then put it in our ice bucket and filled it up with ice everyday and it got cold.Needless to say they sell soy mill in pops foodcourt.So we ended buying her more there. They do have a micro in the foodcourt that you can use all the time. They also have a micro in all the parks in the baby care center.As hot as it is in september you water will warm on its own in the sun.
Just a side note:Almost all TS locations have soy milk if you ask the server.My DD always got a cup free when the rest of the family was on theh DDP.If you have anymore?let me know

If I recall correctly, this past June, the Pop's Food Court shut down at 11pm with the doors locking shortly there after. They didn't open again until around 6:30am in the morning either...so it wouldn't be 24 hr access.

Even without a child for me I want either a fridge or a cooler. Something to at least keep drinks cold in my room is important to me.

You can compare renting from "a baby's best friend" if you want. I don't know if it's cheaper. I don't know if you can have a microwave in your room (they rent them) but I don't know why you'd need one? I'd give formula ice cold in Florida (we lived in Hawaii and my DS took his with ice cubes in it!). My DS has milk allergy also - soy milk is delicious, has twice the calcium as formula (as long as you buy fortified) and is cheap and available everywhere. I agree you may want to look into a gradual switch - may make the vacation simpler.

I could care less for one. When we had one at CSR we didn't even use it.

We had a mug.. I can't remember what time the restaurant closed but the bartender at the bar was happy to refill our mug if the restaurant was closed.

we always get one. We seem to always end up with leftover drinks, snacks, or food of some type. We stay at the GF so the fridge is free but even if we had to rent it we would still do it.

We always like to have one in the room because we eat breakfast in the room to save money, and need it for the milk and juice. If we drive down we can bring a cooler, but when flying we can't. Also, it saves on having to worry about the ice level of the cooler and keeping the cooler water cleaned out.

You can get the fridge for free if you need it for medical reasons. I'm going to get one since my youngest has reflux issues and his meds requires refridgeration.

Disney charges $10/day for a fridge I believe.

A few years ago, before the deluxes had them, we stayed at WL. DD was about 15 months old. I just used our cooler, filled it with ice a few times a day, and kept milk really cold that way. It worked well and was much cheaper. No way would I rent one at the prices Disney charges.

Depends on what you plan to do regarding eating. We were at CSR for 8 days in June and I had groceries delivered on the first day. We were not on the dining plan. We used the groceries for meals in the room. I was able to have milk a juice delivered and would also put a few drinks in the fridge at all times. I also had some fresh fruit and carrot sticks delivered I put in the fridge plus some lunchmeat. We used this for a meal most days too. Made sandwiches and had fruit and carrots with it. I feel the fridge saved me a lot of money on meals. If I had to pay for the fridge though, not as much of a savings. Many days we just had to do one meal out. Almost as important -the convenience of having it was great. That way we could eat a relaxing meal in the room and not have to walk to the food court and stand in line.

On the other hand, we did a short 4 day trip to WL in November and were on the dining plan that trip and I really did not use the fridge much at all. We were not in the rooms as much and with the dining plan had many meals scheduled at a Disney restaurant.

We used our refrigerator a lot during our 10 day stay. We stayed at the CBR and a refrigerator was one of the deciding factors. If I had to pay $10.00 per day for a refrigerator at a value resort, I might as well take that $100.00 and stay at the CBR where one is provided free. You also get a larger room and more amenities at the CBR than the values.

We bring soft drinks, water, milk, etc. from home and put them in the fridge. Much easier than going back and forth to the food court for refills. We, like one of the other posters said, eat a quick breakfast in our room and the fridge comes in very handy.

That is what I was thinking too.

We stayed at the Poly last time we went & luckily it was free then otherwise I was going to get the allergist's note that he has a food allergy, blah, blah, blah. But I didn't need to get one.

You can get in on a frig swap. we are going in 12 days and it's only costing me $10 for our 6 day stay. Some are free. We are paying beause we are the first ones using this one. But it's totally worth it. We have used collapsable coolers before but ours leaked no matter what we did. We even lined it with plastic. I'm looking forward to this trip
