Zoey, at 70 pounds, still thinks she can run and take a flying leap onto my lap when I am in the recliner. And she is right, she can. She is only 8 months old, I wonder if she will keep this up when she is full grown?:scared: I imagine so..

How big is your lap dog?

She takes up the whole chair-sorry, picture isn't so good. It was a difficult angle.

Oh my goodness, she is beautiful! Is she a Bernese? I've always wanted one of those. Sigh. :lovestruc

I have a 85-lb. golden retriever lap dog, and a 90 lb. black lab lap dog. ;) They both think that they are perfectly suited to snuggle up in bed with us at night.

Our late dog,Jack, was an 80lb lapdog. It didn't matter how big or small you were, your lap was his lap. If you were on the couch,he would leap onto you. If you made the mistake of sitting on the floor, he would literally saunter up and shimmy his big ole butt right down on you like you were a chair...it was really interesting when he decided you were his RECLINER:rotfl:

I had a lap dog that was about 150 pounds. :lmao:
Whenever any one would sit on the floor the dog would come over and drape himself over top of you. :rotfl2: He did this until his dying day. I miss him.:sad1:

OP I can't see your pictures at work. Can't wait to log on at home and see them. I love dogs!!

Mine is a 130 lb very big headed Rottie , my lap is big BUT not that big LOL. He loves to sleep in the bed with me when my DHis at the firehouse. You should feel that rolling over on top of you ate 3:00 am :scared1:

I love these responses..I thought I was going to get people telling me I was wrong to let my dog do this. As if I had any choice in the matter. If I can see her coming, I can stick my foot out before she takes her leap, like when I have a cup of hot coffee in my hand or whatever. :scared: Otherwise it is an awakening to say the least when this clutz just comes flying over on top of me, or awkwardly climbs up, scratching and clawing her way there.

designermv, yes she is a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is a wonderful character, she has taken over the whole house. She does pretty much whatever she feels like and gets away with it. I wonder what it would be like to have a dog small enough where it was MY choice whether or not to get them into my lap?!:lmao:

EEyore, I'm sorry you are missing your doggie. I lost three in 18 months, and it will be one year soon since I lost my first Berner, Stella.

Every dog I have ever owned has thought they were a lap dog, my last beagle use to wait for me to sit, just so she could lay in my lap. Now my cockapoo could care less about laying in my lap and ever since he was a baby I would pick him up and lay him in my lap but he always jumps out and goes gets a toy, I miss having a dog that wants to lay in my lap,

My parent's dogs, especially the big male, think they can be lap dogs too. They are Berners, like the OP's dog.

I have a 170lb English Mastiff who believes she is no bigger than a Boston Terrier (our other dog). She is more than happy to sit in your lap if you sit down. So as big as she is, she is our lap dog.

We have a Great Dane who is a lap dog. Ozzy will back up and plop his butt on your lap and leave his feet on the floor:confused3

Our Lab is 90# and TOOOO big to be a lap dog :)

Our Boston is about 26 # and it PLENTY big for a lap pup...

Zoey is one gorgeous dog! I LOVE Bernese Mountain Dogs and Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. But then again, I LOVE most big dogs!

HRH- your doggie is so cute.

As far as to big? I don't know, when it hurts you I guess?

My lap dog is an 8 pund Chihuhua with a gut!!!! Seriously when she sits up her belly lops onto the ground! She refuses to sit on the couch/floor/bed if there is an available body instead!

Beautiful Berner!

We had a 2 year old lab that weighed over 90 lbs. He liked to leap at me too - nearly knocked me down from behind if I wasn't expecting him.

That's the MOST adorable thing I've ever seen! Look at those eyes! That big head resting on your lap.....AAAAWWWWW, I'm IN LOOOOOVE!!! :lovestruc

A lap dog can not be too big.:)
I LOVE your dog, a BMD was one of our choices when we were dog searching. Beautiful!!!
