Took DS11 to the Mystic Aquarium the other day. We were watching the stingrays and (once again) I told DS that we will be feeding/swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. He asked how big the tank is! I told him it's the ocean.
Yesterday when I was watching the cruise video I had him come watch at the part where people were feeding the stingrays so he could see what we'll be doing.

Looking forward to getting him on the ship

Stingray City is in open water ocean, It's a huge sandbar. Though I haven't been there, I've done enough scuba diving to tell you that you do not want to miss out on the opportunity of going. It is perfectly safe. You will have to take a boad out to the dive site. And from what I've heard the water is very shallow there (I think about 5 feet). You and your daughter will have a blast!

hahahahaha Is that big enough for you??? ;) lol

The Stingray excursion is the best excursion!! It's our favorite. The water is warm, crystal clear and not to deep!! PERFECT!!!

I know your son will enjoy it!

We truly loved going on Captian Marvins for the sting rey city tour. I don't think we would have liked it as much doing it with the disney excursion. It was very personal.

Our DD is 12. She went did SNUBA in St. Thomas on our last cruise and fed the fish in the ocean. Said it freaked her out a little at first, but then she liked it. She's not at all sure she wants to be that close to rays when we go back in the spring. Anyone have any advice? I'm sure she'd love it if she would just give it a chance. Anyone have experience with kids that were afraid?

Yes, actually I was the one who was afraid! There were young children who were also afraid on our boat. You can sit on the boat and watch. I got in, and then was very nervous and got out. If you don't touch any of the bait, it's alittle less interaction. The stingrays swim around the people (probably because they think you are going to feed them). It's really a weird feeling but probably if your not a wimp like me, and you interact with them, it's really cool.

DD wants to know what the "bait" is like. Is it whole fish? She thinks whole dead fish are too creepy, but says she could probably handle chopped up fish. LOL!

It was chopped fish on Captain Marvin's

What is Captain Marvin's? And can really small children go along and just stay on the boat? My husband and I were thinking of switching off with the youngest two.

Yes, small children can definitely stay on the boat. This experience is NOT TO BE MISSED!!!
