how big is SSR

I keep hearing people comment on how big SSR is. I know this is a relative term and if you are used to say VWL or BCV then another resort may seem huge. How would SSR compare to say POR or CBR for example?

SSR is big in terms of capacity not so much in its layout.

In other words, the buildings hold alot of spacious rooms, but to walk from one end to the other is no longer than 10mins (without children).

I will compare that to OKW, which I do not believe has as many rooms..but to walk from one end to the other can EASILY take about 20-30mins (without children)

In my opinion it is all in the layout of the property. I love SSR.

IMO on our last (and 1st trip to SSR) in Jan 2006 my impressions was it was a pretty good size the way it is currenlty. Once the buildings they are working on are done it is going to be too big (IMO) and I think there might be more planned after that. I don't know how people are going to want to stay at then newer so far out buildings. One is across a major road and rather cut off from the rest of the resort.

However the way it was now it seemed pretty nice.

I think the resort was at cap (I think all of WDW for the marthon) but it never seemed crowded or busy. :goodvibes excpet maybe the busses sometimes.

SSR looks like a big resort on the map. I think it is easier to navigate than POR. Bus stops seem convenient enough. It must be a well constructed resort. Many posts talk about never hearing noises from other villas. Comments about “being the only people there” are common. With all the negatives and positives about SSR, I guess it is somewhere in the middle. A large resort with nice accommodations and a somewhat peaceful atmosphere. Busses seem to be the biggest mystery. Sometimes they are plentiful and sometimes not. For a large resort, they are still working on the food options. Some members are disappointed; others feel DTD is more than enough.
The main pool seems to raise some questions. When the resort came on line members were predicting the theme pool would be too small. As each new section opened, the same predictions were repeated. The most recent posts I have read indicate no problems with crowds at the pool. I will be there in May. I will check out the pool and I may even pace off the resort from one end to the other. I will post the findings upon my return. Or I will go back to work and forget to post. Just like SSR, it could go either way.
