I've been trying to do Atkins but it is HARD. Not that I'm not up for the challenge it is just been harder then I thought.

Breakfast today was a Tall White Mocha, No Fat, No Whip Coffee
Lunche was a Grilled Chicken Breast, Smothered in cheese, and Greenbeans.
Dinner was a big salad with Ranch Dressing, and then 5 slices of really really really thin crust pizza. If you are from St. Louis Area it was Imo's. For those not from St. Louis our crust is like a saltine cracker in thickness and density and cut into 3.5 to 4 inch squares.

Amanda!
Now you have me missing my favorite St Louis pizza. Imo's.... YUM!!!! I am not on Atkins, so I can't tell you how 'bad' you were. Instead I will say I completely understand the temptation of Imo's pizza -- we have it every trip back home! Maybe I should have my family bring some half-baked pizzas with them when they visit for Thanksgiving! :scratchin

Well, you are definitely not doing Atkins! It sounds like you've cut down on your carbs a little bit, and this way of dieting may work for you, especially if you find it too hard to do Atkins.

On Atkins, if you get a coffee - you DON'T want to get it made with skim milk, or mocha! You want a plain coffee with 1/2 & 1/2 or real whipping cream. Add a little Splenda or sugar free vanilla syrup for flavor.

The lunch was great - chicken, cheese & green beans! Perfect!

You started out great with the big salad for dinner - but then blew it with the pizza. Even if the crust was thin - it's still loaded with carbs! On Atkins, you shouldn't even eat thin crackers or saltines.

Here's what you should eat during the first two weeks, if you're serious about doing Atkins. No substitutions: meat, eggs, cheese, 3 cups veggies per day. And lots of water. Period. That's it. I know it's very restrictive, but it's only for 2 weeks - and your body really needs that time to "cleanse" itself of all those carbs/sugars.

Like I said, if it's way too restrictive to stick to, then maybe think about just sticking to what you're doing now - and practice portion control. Have you weighed yourself yet to see how you're doing? Maybe it's working for you! You won't see dramatic results, like you would if you were following Atkins, but that's ok too - if the scale is going in the right direction! :teeth:

Good luck! ::yes::

Mmmmmmmm, Imos..........

Anyway, nope, Imos can't possibly be allowed on Atkins, even with the thin crust. The crust is still made with white flour, which is a no-no. It's probably better than a slice of deep dish pizza, but still carb heavy.

And the coffee, with low carb dieting, you should be more worried that it is SUGAR free than fat free. I know that Starbucks will make you some things in sugar free if you ask, my dh gets them all the time.

Have you considered doing the South Beach Diet? It's still low carb, and that pizza would still be a no-no in induction but it's overall less restrictive than Atkins, and still works for a lot of people (though not quite as quickly as Atkins, according to people I've talked to who have done both)
