How bad is the YC/BC Concierge?

How is the YC/BC Concierge compared to say the Poly or AK? I mean this in terms of service, offerings and views. I realize the great location...(main reason we want to stay there). WE stayed at YC concierge 2 years ago and thought it was ok, but the views were not that great. Last year we stayed at GF RPC and of course it was much better. The Poly and AK are cheaper, and seem to have more to offer, is this correct? Is the BC concierge really any different thatn YC? Thanks for any input

I don't have personal experience with YC/BC concierge, but I've heard wonderful things about them here on the boards. People seem to really love it.

The Yacht Club Concierge is fabulous. I have stayed in both the Polynesian and YC Concierge and eventhough I prefer the location of the Polynesian the Yacht Club is beautiful and selection is better for food. The concierge staff are about equal in my opinion.

We stayed at the YC concierge in 2001 and we loved every minute of it. I have no other concierge to compare it to, but the service was wonderful, the food selections varied and delicious, and the pampering just fantastic!!

I have had different experiences than the other posters. I've stayed at YC, AKL, and Poly concierge rooms all within the past seven months, and the AKL and Poly BLEW AWAY the YC!

I was at the YC shortly after they finished the renovations, and found the staff generally uncaring or disinterested (we ran into one great CM, the rest ranged from average to terrible). We didn't like the atmosphere of the lounge, it was "Stiff" and "Formal"--I would have enjoyed it as a business person on a business trip, but it didn't feel relaxing, we simply weren't at all comfortable "Hanging Out" there.

The offereings were no where near as good or varied as at the AKL and Polynesian, especially in the evening. They often started "packing it all up" before the stated lounge closing time.

They also didn't have the soda out, it had to be requested, and there was seldom someone actually in the lounge.

We encountered other problems, including a cockroach (not a palmetto bug), and a power outage in August with no a/c (I know it wasn't their fault, but it was kind of the "icing on the cake".

It just wasn't a very good stay for us.

I personally have never understood the obsession or fascination with "concierge" at the Disney resorts. I mean, you get cold cereal and bagels in the morning - big deal, and for $100 extra a night???? I did it because I had read posts how you can stock up on soda and water before going to the parks which I though would maybe make it worth it. NOT ONCE, did they EVER have soda OR water. I tried concierge once at the BC after hearing everyone rave about it, but I will never waste my money on it again.

It doesn't sound like you had very much fun at the BC. Sorry things were not more enjoyable. The DW and I stayed at YC Concierge last October and had an extraordinary time. We did experiece some of what you did - no water or soda out, but we asked and a cast member brought some out. Heck, they even brought out wine for us! The Concierge CM's moved heaven and earth for us. What a great crew! They were very friendly, even the CM who was the spitting image of a sadistic teacher I had in elementary school. (She was Discipline Incarnate) She kept trying to be friendly and I kept waiting for the "steel fist" to come out. Ahhh yes, childhood memories... moving right along....

This October we are planning/considering the BC, so your insight on what goes on there is much appreciated. When you asked for water or soda, the CM's said they were all out? Please let me know what happened as this is a concern.

For us, we found the YC C-lounge to be very comfy, very inviting and cozy. We went out on the balcony and enjoyed the countryside view along with some wine and cheese. (Nice selections by the way.) In the evening, the selection of cordials was very good and a few light snacks that varied each day. Rolls, cereal and donuts (Yummm!!!) in the morning.

Was it worth an extra $100 a day? There is more to it than simply the cost of the wine, cordials, water, donuts and snacks we consumed. The convenience was very important, and, having a nice place to relax after the parks was a big plus. The assistance with PS ressies was a big plus too. (Say would you two like breakfast at CRT? What day would you like? - no spending days on hold on the phone.)

For us, it was worth it. Would we do it again? I don't know. There are just so many things to consider....

Although, I did not think the concierge was anything special, my stay at the Beach Club has always been extraordinary. It is definitely my favorite hotel. As far as the drinks go, I only asked once and was given 1 bottled water - which isn't actually what I had in mind in "stocking up", perhaps if I was more persistant I could have gotten more. As far a PS goes, I never use them (just one more thing about these boards that I feel is HIGHLY over-rated) Every time I've used PS I've always had to wait around 10 minutes to be seated. Every time I DONT use PS, I have had to wait about 10 minutes so what's the point? It just seems that you'd have to have a family of 10 to get your monies worth - but if being pampered is what makes or breaks a vacation then you should go for it!! I did feel like the concierge staff would have "bent over backwards" for me, it's just that I'm not one who requires all that much attention. I don't do PS, don't use the spa, and I like to have all my tours and extra's booked before I arrive. Just wanted to warn those that are like me that it might not be worth it, but if you like the "pampering" and extra services, I'd have to say it would probably be worth it.

I have stayed at the Poly concierge twice (lagoon concierge and garden concierge) and the YC concierge once (lagoon concierge). I really enjoyed both concierges and would stay in either one again.

The lagoon view concierge room we had at the Poly (#1512) had a great view of the castle; we could also see the Contemporary and GF from our room. The garden view room we had didn't have a good view (you could see part of the quiet pool, the back of the pool supply house, and some landscaping), but the room itself was nice. The food was delicious both times. They lots of choices, and the food was "normal" (not too gourmet for my tastes). I also received very good pre-planning service and service upon our arrival from the concierge staff on both trips.

Our lagoon view room at the YC (#5151) had a really pretty view. We could see Stormalong Bay, the back entrance of the YC, the lighthouse, and part of World Showcase from our balcony. We even saw the fireworks portion of Illuminations from our balcony. The room was also very close to the lounge and elevators, which was very convenient. The staff here was super friendly and accomodating. The food offerings here ranged from "normal" food (like donuts, cereal, bagels at breakfast and popcorn during the middle of the day) to more gourmet, but not overly so (like bacon wrapped scallops at night). I really loved the location of this resort as well.

All in all, I would stay at either concierge again gladly. Each has it's slight advantages in my personal opinion, but they are both really nice. I prefer the food at the Poly, but the lounge is nicer at the YC. I also prefer the staff at the YC, but only slightly.

I just got back from 4 nights at the Beach Club. I think its the best, most conviently located hotel in WDW. We were upgraded to a concierge-level room; what a treat! It was great for a quick breakfast or snack and drink at night. They have fantastic oatmeal cookies. The view isn't spectacular and service was just average, but all the same we enjoyed it thouroughly.

My thoughts are similar to Ducklite's. We've stayed in YC, BC and Poly concierge. Our least favorite was YC and our favorite was the Poly as far as our concierge service and experience. We enjoyed the foods and staff better at the Poly and it was much easier and less intimidating to request bottled water, sodas or any special requests at the Poly. However, as far as location, the YC & BC are better for us since we spend more time at Epcot and MGM than we do at the MK. We're thinking of trying the BW next. I will say we had a beautiful view of the lake and the Boardwalk at the YC and BC. Hope this helps.

I must offer......... at the risk of being slammed ........that the BC Concierge was one of our worst experiences to date. At this point I would choose the All Stars over the BC!

We booked the BC Concierge last May and our trip went downhill from there. Suffice to say the check in was the best part as we avoided a long line. Concierge staff was rude and "snotty" IMHO, offerings in the lounge were good, not great, and our room was just awful. I paid for preferred view concierge and got an awful view on the top of the building looking out on the roof and eventually the pool. Not what I would consider a "preferred" view. The balcony was not a walk out and although we paid extra for a third adult and I was confirmed a daybed - we had to "BEG" for it. Don't even get me started <G>. We were miles away from everything including the lounge. Don't even imply that we didn't do "enough to get moved" because we did more than what we should have to have done at that rate!!

So...I have stayed at every category resort and other than CBR the BC was our worst experience. I have enjoyed the Poly concierge and absolutely loved AKL concierge (a gift for gh!).

I stay at the Dolphin consistantly now and CL or not I pay for and get exactly what I want. Balcony room with a view, non smoking, anything more than that is a bonus for us. I am tired of having to beg for my non-smoking room. I don't want something for nothing but I want what I pay for and the Dolphin gives me that without begging and faxes, YMMV.

We were given a free upgrade to a concierge room at the BC two years ago. Of course, we were very happy to be upgraded. They had a nice selection of breakfast items in the a.m. and snacks in the afternoon. Dessert in the evening was nice. We did take water every day for the parks. However, I don't think I would pay for this. It was a very nice upgrade and I appreciated it, but not worth $100 a night.

To be honest, I think the BC is overpriced. IMHO, they only get the big bucks here because of the location and the pool. Our room was nothing to rave about. Bathroom was miniscule and the room looked a little tired. It was fine for the rate I paid (I had a postcard), but I certainly wouldn't pay $300 a night or more for it.

I thought the communication at the BC concierge was very poor. I keep hearing about guests who are greeted upon arrival, given pre-planning help, express check-in etc., Gosh - wondering why I never received any of that. I didn't know that concierge came with it's own check-in - so needless to say I stood in line for a good 45 minutes at the regular check-in, before I finally realized I was in the wrong line. I was never sent anything telling me what to do, so how would I know? Thank God for these boards!!

I didn't think they had concierge check-in any more at the YC/BC. When we stayed at the YC in 2001, they sent us a room key to use in the elevator to get to the conceirge level. Last year, we heard they they didn't do that anymore. Last November we stayed at the BC and didn't get a key. So when we arrived we asked, and a CM just pointed to the regular check-in in the lobby.


Have not stayed at the GF (so I kon't know), but the only resorts that still have concierge check-in are Poly and AKL.

after waiting at the regular check-in for almost an hour, I was taken to the concierge lounge for "express" check in where I was given a room key that allowed me exclusive access to the floor the lounge was located. This was this past summer, so I'm sure they still offer it.
