How bad is the Sci Fi?

I can't get a table for 8 at Hollywood and Vine, and dh doesn't really like either italian food or the idea of the "50's Prime Time" interactive experience.

Is the food that bad? :earseek:

We really loved the Sci Fi at lunch. I have heard several times that the lunch selections are better than the dinners.
That being said, maybe you could order sandwhiches and burgers for your dinner!

It just seemed more of a IceCream Shake, Burger joint than a Filet Mignon dinner place.

Our food wasn't bad at all. I had the reuben sandwich and my husband had a hamburger. We enjoyed the food and especially the atmosphere. I've read some negative reviews about the Sci-Fi so I guess its hit and miss, but our experience was nice.

I've been twice & had the steak sandwich twice. It was very good, in fact, I'm a picky eater and this is the only sit-down service I like at MGM.

I also had a FANTASTIC drink. It's called "Space Monkey." It's a chocolate shake with Malibu coconut rum, and banana liqueur. YUM!:teeth:

We loved Sci-Fi!! I had the steak sandwich, dh had the ribs, kids had burgers. My favorite was dessert...the cheesecake with caramel popcorn and m&m's...who would've thought that would taste sooooo good together! :teeth:

we have eaten there on our last 2 trips and have enjoyed it very much. i have 2 picky eaters in my family and they both loved it. service was also excellent. my son recieved a sandwich that had a sauce on it that he didnt like. the waiter saw this and asked what was wrong, well we told him and he promptly went and got him another sandwich without us asking.

one question though. i tried to make reservations for 8 on our next trip and i was told there arent any tables that seat 8 together.

i personally loved it espceially because i had seen almost all of the movies they were showing the clips from

We have enjoyed it everytime we went. The dinner selection wasn't that large, but DH had a great shrimp pasta, while my catfish was a bit dry and flavorless. The burgers at lunch are really good.

The atmosphere is lots of fun!

After reading so many "hot & cold" posts about Sci-fi, our last visit we stoped in for onion rings & milkshakes only. Kids loved it & we had nothing to complain about!

We went to the Sci-Fi last year and we all really enjoyed it, especially our 10 year old DS.

Despite a lot of bad reviews, we tried Sci-Fi this year and thought it was a unique experience. The food was surprisingly good (steak, sandwiches, huge ice cream sundaes). We also ate @ Hollywood & Vine (Fantasmic Pkg). It is very noisy and parents seem to let their young children run wild throughout the restaurant, especially making a mess @ the "adult" buffet. It is a good deal for the money & some of the food is the same as served @ Chef Mickey's. In MGM both are great choices. If your party of 8 wants to be seated together, head for H&V.

Common opinion is that as long as you stick with burgers/rings/shakes you'll enjoy Sci-Fi. :earsboy:

We love Sci-Fi and its a must on all our trips. We go for lunch through and stick with burgers, fries, shakes, onion rings. Nothing fancy.

Also we have 8 every time we go. They will tell you that they have to split you up but just get there about 15 minutes early. We've never ever been split up. We don't fit in one car but they put us in cars next to each other which is just as good.

This is my kids' favorite disney restaurant. Once again, we will be there for my son's birthday. They love the light up ice cubes in their glow inthe dark cups. I liked the food. So did my husband. We are fussy eaters.

I liked my food - a chicken sandwich. Hubby made the dc order green beans and they both said that they weren't very good. I had green beans the next day at the 50's and if they were the same. . . my kids weren't exaggerating.

Hubby doesn't want to go back, because he wants some healthful eating. Bummer! I think we'll go to H&V because they have a few veggies on the buffet. Oh, joy.

Ok, I'll bite...I'm not crazy about the food there. I had a burger last time (May) and thought it was only mediocre. I've also had the catfish and thought the same. That being said, it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't eat there again - especially since the kids love sitting in the car and watching the films so it's one of the only meals that I eat in peace (even if it's not the greatest meal). The milkshakes are quite good though...

We love the Sci-Fi. It's definitely a must do for us. We do it for lunch on our first MGM day. We stick with burgers, shakes and such (and the kids love the glow in the dark ice cube drinks) and they were always good. Kids love the atmosphere. We'll be back there on July 2.

as a previous Sci-Fi non liker....we have eaten lunch here 3 times and I must say I do enjoy it for lunch. DH love it!! The onion rings, burgers, chili, drinks and the cool a/c make it a great stop for lunch!

It's one of those places that you go to more for the atmosphere than the food The food is decent, just not great. All of thet said, my kids would be crushed if we didn't go to Sci-Fi. They love it!

We eat at Sci Fi every trip. Weve always had good food. We love the movies and the feel of the drive in!! Its one of the highlights of our trip!! Enjoy!
