So we are hoping to still go to Disney this winter but the week I have booked is Pop Warner. At first I thought, how bad could it be? After readins so many posts that mention it though, I've got to wonder, really.. How bad could it be?:scared1: I am thinking I may just change my date. Any advice either way?
Thanks.

Where are you planning on staying? From what I have read (Ive never actually experienced it, just read about it) they seem to stay only at a couple of resorts. They dont really impact the parks just the resorts they are at. (I know Ive read POR was one resort, and I think one of the All Stars)

Ditto pp's reply. . . they don't affect the parks, but they OVERRUN the resort. I believe they stay at the values. . . I wouldn't change my trip dates, but maybe resort. Hopefully someone can come along and verify what resorts they like :)

We have a reservation at POR. Because of our family size it is our cheapest option as we can have one room with a trundle.

The football teams were ok when we were there we had no problems with them they were polite and well behaved. Now the cheerleader's:cheer2: there for competitions were a pain in the you know what.:sad2: The thought they could do what ever they want and get away with it. We had one group try to cut in line at the PI stop(DTD) to get on the bus when there was a big line they just walked right up to the door when the bus pulled up. I said the end of the line is down there and they told me they don't have to wait in line its there resorts bus. The bus driver opened the door and blocked them from getting on and let everyone else on the bus and they argued with her the whole time. Then she just got on closed the doors and made them wait for the next bus it was priceless:thumbsup2 :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Sorry, but both cheapish options for your family of 6 (POR and AS Music) are Pop Warner resorts. I have heard nightmares of Pop Warner kids over running the resorts. There would be NO WAY I would ever book at a PW resort during PW. I think you are just asking for trouble. I would suggest that you either change your dates or pony up the extra money for two rooms at Pop Century, a deluxe resort that sleeps 5 (plus the baby) or a rent a DVC 1 bedroom at Bay Lake Tower or Animal Kingdom Villas.

Very true. The reputation of Pop Warner is earned, so do not be surprised, especially from the cheerleaders to hear cheers on buses, ride cues or other non resort locations. Experience herds of cheerleaders cutting lines or using wheelchairs as a form of entertainment...

OP, there is no magic ball to tell you how bad they can be, since each year has its own stories to include one year where fights broke out in the MK.

POP warner kids stay at the Allstars with overflow to a moderate..USUALLY POR..They are hit and miss in the parks..They aren't there too much during the day, but evenings are a different story and you may run into them. The resorts are a different story, they are a very strong prescence there.I used to go during Pop week, and now I go another time.I am no longer up to spending my hard earned vacation time and $$$ to learn how well behaved or not they are going to be.

We are going during Pop Warner week but staying at the Poly. As the other said, doesn't effect the parks much just the resort. My TA told me that staying at a deluxe would be no problem.

We were there during Pop Warner last year but we stayed deluxe. Never had a problem at all. That being said I was originally booked for POR but changed to WL after I found out they would be there!

I've stayed at BWV during PW week, it was never an issue. I was there last year, we saw small groups in the parks but it was no problem.

If you are staying at POR and can change your dates, I would. The week before or after should be good.

What are the exact dates they are there?

Dec 5 to 11th 2010.. and no.. to the other poster, they do not typically stay in any noticeable numbers at Pop Century --- but we won't know for sure what hotel they are at until October when their travel info is released.

We stayed at BC during Pop Warner and they weren't at the resort. We did run into some of the cheerleaders at Epcot when we were waiting in line for Soarin. Out of control and the adults with them did nothing. I would change reservations if I found out they were at the same resort. We like kids so that's not the issue. I'm not looking to get flamed but these kids are old enough to know how to conduct themselves in public. If not then there parents need to start teaching them. Also, the adults with them who allow the behavior are as much to blame if not more so. I realize every kid slips up but we saw this kind of thing at all the parks during different trips. :confused3

Been there 3 times when Pop Warner was there and have to agree with most of the other posts. The cheerleaders are worse then the players but both are bad.

In recent years the cheerleaders have been used in taping of Christmas parade so their ego's have gone through the roof.
And the so called chaperons/coaches are a joke. They do nothing but get drunk!!!
In Dec 2008 3 teams of cheerleaders were thrown out due to fighting in a parking lot at 5 am at POR.
During day parks are clear of them. But don't even think about Disney Quest at night!!!
Most CM hate them

Change weeks or stay deluxe. Parks aren't bad, I heard resorts that they stay at are a nightmare.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I am talking to DH tonight and we'll be changing dates for our vacation. I don't mind noise but it seems like the girls are pretty darn rude and like a pp said, gambling vacation money on their behavior just doesn't seem to make sense.

I appreciate it and am just glad I visit the Disboards and know about this now instead of arriving there and finding out then! :disrocks:

We just moved our vacation, and it is now Pop Warner week. We are at the Grand Floridian (I have to update my ticker, lol), so I don't think they'll be an issue at our hotel, but I'm a bit concerned about Magical Express....

does anyone know if most Pop Warner teams drive, or if they all arrive via flights using ME? If so, we might consider a car rental.

with 2 young kids who go to be early, I don't think we'll encounter Pop Warner at the parks too much, fingers crossed...
