How bad is Newark airport?

I'm looking at a flight that connects in Newark. I've never flown through there, but I've heard nothing but bad things about it. So I guess the question is, how bad is it? I don't have a lot of other flight options, but if it's worth avoiding, I may be able to find a different flight.

It's been years but I used to fly out of Newark frequently and never had an issue. It's an airport. It's much easier to handle than JFK.

Newark Airport is fine, and much better than JFK and don't even think about LaGuardia.

It may sound stupid but it seemed to me Newark was somewhat compact, with clean restrooms and decent food choices before and after security. I have run into fairly long security lines at Newark though.

My take terminal A at Newark isn't that great. Other terminals seem better.

Overall it's my go to airport because of distance to my house.

I don't mind JFK especially the JetBlue terminal so nice!

Now LGA ugh but the new delta terminal is nice.

Honest if it isn't a long layover I wouldn't personal avoid any of them as long as the price and times are right.

The flight I'm looking at is on United with a 1.5 hr. layover. I'll probably just go ahead and book it.

Newark is our most local airport and I've never had any issues flying here. I'm assuming it's pretty typical of any large international airport. Sometimes there are delays from weather and such, but the airport itself has a lot of food options, generally nice TSA and airport personnel, lots of shops, etc.

It's not bad at all. Dont worry. It's the only airport we use and I've never had a terrible experience there (at least not one that was the airport's fault)!

Here is a link to the Airlines and their respective terminals at EWR. http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-airlines.html

If you are arriving on a United Express flight that lands in terminal A and need to transfer to terminal C for your next flight (or vice versa), there is a shuttle bus that you can take before you leave the secure area; it allows you to bypass security in the next terminal. I know you need to show your boarding pass before taking the shuttle; they will probably want your ID as well.

I think it depends on where you live. For us living on Long Island JFK works best. We take the train to Jamaica and then the monorail to JFK. It couldn't be easier.
