How bad is MK on a Monday?

We're planning on going to WDW June 7 - 13 and I'm trying to figure out what days to go when, so I can figure out ADRs. Josh's calendar isn't out for June yet, but I've read that it's typically not a good idea to go to MK on Mondays. However I'm thinking about splitting up our stay, spending 3 days onsite then 3 days offsite, and I'm planning on going to MK over 2 days. We would need to go to HS on Sunday for Star Wars Weekend, then MK on Monday and Tuesday to go during our onsite stay when we could use the Disney transportation. But is that just a bad idea, especially for early June? If we didn't go on Monday, I would go on Tuesday and Wednesday instead. Do you think that would be a better idea, even if we'd be offsite by Wednesday?

What you'll hear from folks is that any day can work as long as you get there at RD and have a good TP, but my experience has shown that Mondays at MK are busy and those 2 thigs will only help you for the first 2-3 hours of the morning. Most likely Josh will recommend EPCOT, but it depends on what else is going on around that time.

I don't put much faith in the crowd calendars, especially since some of them give contradictory recommendations. Plus they are just someone's ideas -- brainstorming about what might be good -- not actually backed by Disney bookings for the day.

Here is my recommendation...

It's June. And SWW. It's gonna be hot and busy the whole time pretty much every day. Sunday is your SWW day, so that's locked. You arrive Sat, and have Sat night, Sun night, Mon night onsite? Then I would definitely do MK on Mon. It's your only full day there aside from Sun which is already allocated to SWW.

Tuesday you check out. I would do MK again this day.

I don't think you'll see significantly different crowds going Mon-Tue vs Tue-Wed and going on Wed you'll lose hotel perks like easy transport to the park. Yeah people say this and that about the "first full day at MK" but some ppl arrive on Fri, Sat, Sun, and it's the summer so ppl will arrive and leave all week long.

Also... if everyone follows a crowd picker and avoids Mondays because of it then aren't Mondays better? Crowd calendars are naturally self defeating in that way so I'd pick what works best for your schedule.

:)

We went to MK on Memorial Day (Monday) this past May. We were there early for RD so we were right up front. We headed straight to the rides we really wanted and in 2 hours we did the heavy duty stuff with NO crowds! We took a quick dole whip break & did another 2 hours of attractions. By this time it was getting crowded. We had an ADR @ a monorail resort & had a leisurely long lunch, explored that resort, then headed back to MK. By this time it was BUSY!!! But, we had already had a good 4 hours. So we just took our time, stayed for Wishes and had a wonderful time.

Personally, I won't go on a Monday. It's always crazy busy, and crowds really affect my enjoyment.

That being said, it sounds like you've locked yourself into it. And since you're going a second day too, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

So follow the advice and get there EARLY. If you're going on a bad day, getting there early and having a good Fastpass plan is the best way to go.

Have fun!!!!

In June it really won't matter. It will be busy regardless. Schools just let out for vacation, everybody getting vacation in off the bat. Good luck!

Thanks for the thoughts. I think I will keep my plans of doing HS on Sunday, Epcot on Monday, and MK on Tuesday and Wednesday. I forgot that I plan to book the dining plan for those first 3 days, because I'd like to go to Ohana on Saturday, Akershus on Monday, and Chef Mickey on Tuesday. If I saved Epcot for Thursday, we'd be offsite then and I'd have to pay Akershus OOP, and the whole point of doing the dining plan for those 3 days would be because it would save us money going to those 3 meals. It won't be that bad to drive to MK for one day. I may even consider eating breakfast at the Poly or Contemporary then paying the extra few dollars to valet park just to be able to get to the MK faster than parking in the MK parking lot.
