How Bad is it in June?

I'm trying to figure out when to take our next trip. I'm considering June, like right after my daughter gets out of school so mid-June.

How bad is it, both crowd wise and heat wise? I know it will be hot for sure, but we always take mid-day breaks to go swimming anyway.

Its not just hot, its horribly humid as well. Crowds will also be pretty high since most schools will be out on break in June and many will be looking to avoid the August period as I think that's when the 'value season' begins and value season is also hurricane season - lots of unpredictability with regard to rain in addition to the heat/humidity.

Much depends on what times you have visited in the past.
Is it hot, yes. But so is August, Sept, or several other months. It's not hotter in June
Crowds, a bit more tricky. Early June can be less crowded, as some northern schools aren't out that first week or two. Later in to June does increase the crowds but it's not more crowded than say, early August. It is more crowded than Sept.
Still, both are very manageable.
Good news is you'll have longer park hours (though don't look now, they aren't final yet) to work with.
It's easy to get up and out early, tour till 10, maybe 11, take a break for swimming, napping, etc and then head back out at 5 or 6 for an evening in the parks. Not hard to get everything done that way at all.

I think June is totally doable. Be prepared for temps into the 90s when the sun is out. Be prepared for some pop up thunderstorms. Most of the attractions have AC so honestly you don't have to be baking in the hot sun for long periods of time unless you choose to do so. Crowds are busy but honestly it's always busy! With FP and ADRs, you will be fine. I have been in June three times and will definitely return in June as that tends to be a convenient time for me.

We went this past June (2016), my daughter had to be rushed to the medical center twice because of heat stroke, vomiting and high heart rate. She is 10, we will never go again in the summer.

Wow, scary. Though I can't imagine easily reaching that point, unless she's out there jogging and not drinking any water or ever entering any indoor attractions. We have school and can only go when it's out so we've gone in summer a lot. Never gotten even close to heat stroke once, much less twice. But we do use common tactics of water and ac often. Both are plentiful, even free. There really isn't any reason to let things reach that point.

This summer must have been an exception. We've been in May/June for the past five years and never had this experience! She was drinking water, The first time happened while we were waiting in line to sign up for Jedi training, plenty of shade and my husband took them into the shop across the way to cool off even and both occurrences happened within the first two hours we arrived. It was really scary, but like I said it had never happened before :/

DW and I went at the end of June 2016. It is hot and very humid. The crowds are there, but manageable as long as you're not using a stroller or ECV (that was a major difference for us on that trip). What surprised us was that it felt hotter in June than it did in August three years earlier. Now this is only a theory, but my guess was that when we went in August we had already been through the hottest parts of the summer in NJ and our bodies were more prepared to deal with the heat than when we went in June, the beginning of the summer. Either way, drink lots of water, seek shade and AC, and use cooling towels.

I think there is something to that for sure. Here in TN, by June we've already had HOT for a month, at least.

We go every June and it can be very hot and crowds can be bad at times, but both are manageable if you take your mid-day breaks like you indicated you would and take advantage of AC in attractions, shops, and restaurants. Like AngiTN indicated, the earlier in June the better as far as crowds go. Quite honestly we love June because parks are open later and it's great way to kick off the summer. Hot summer nights in the World, everyone just hanging out having a good time :lovestruc .

One thing to take into consideration is June is the rainiest month in Florida so you will usually have to deal with an afternoon-evening storm that will last a few hours or more. That never stops us though. In fact, sometimes the rain is welcome for cooling things down a little and clearing out the parks some.

We went middle of last June and only found one evening to be unbearably hot and humid. Otherwise we enjoyed ourselves in the parks, early AM and when the sun went down. We always took a mid day break to nap/swim and avoid the worst of the crowds.

I thought mid-June was better temp wise than when we went in early August, but it was still hot and humid. We changed complete outfits x2 a day, so plan on doing laundry or packing a lot of clothes.

We will be there again mid-June again this year, can't wait!!

I agree with this. We've been in June, many, many times including both of the last 2 years...and will again in 2017 and 2018. It's hot, but nothing more than July-Sept. Definitely manageable as long as you're taking proper pre-cautions. Cold drinks, shade where you can, rides in the a/c during the hottest parts of the day.

Crowds are exactly like AngiTN said. Earlier in June, the better. Once northern schools let out, it gets busier. But it's never so bad that it drives us away. Good planning will allow you to get a lot done.

We LOVE going to WDW in the summer. From my first trip in 1977 or 78 until 2015, every trip I had ever done to WDW was June/July, except for one 3 day trip that was in October, and they had a heat wave (it was in the 90s). Then in 2015, we got APs and did Thanksgiving, Christmas and Presidents Day (2016) for the first time. I had joked to my wife that I had never, ever been to WDW and worn anything except shorts and a t-shirt. It would feel bizarre to wear pants or a jacket there. As luck would have it, it was near record warmth when we were there for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I wore shorts and t-shirts. Even Presidents Day weekend was in the low 80s, it was only at night that it got into the 60s and twice I put on a long sleeve t-shirt for our last few hours. It felt so strange to do that. While it was nice not to be sweating, I was just so used to doing summer clothes that it just didn't seem "Disney" to me.

There is no way your daughter should of been out in the sun so soon after a heat stroke. You sure it was a heat stroke?

I am a teacher so the only way we can stay longer than a long weekend is to go in summer. We have done this twice. It was very hot so our touring stamina wasn't as great. We always take breaks after lunch. (During non summer we never needed breaks)

The earlier in June the less crowded. Most schools in the northeast are in session until the last week of June.

It's not as bad as you are probably thinking it will be.

I always used to say that I refused to go to WDW in the summer because of the heat and the crowds (we used to take our son out of school for all of trips - his school approved family vacations as approved absences) . . . then we moved to Tampa which is about an hour away from WDW. We bought APs and went every weekend throughout the summer. Seriously - every weekend. We did both one day trips and a few multi day trips where we stayed on property. Honestly, if you plan for your vacation (and since you are here I am assuming you are planning) the heat and crowds will be a nuisance at times, but the rest of the time you will be having so much fun you won't care.

Get to the parks at opening and use FP for the rides that have the longest lines to minimize the amount of time you are just standing there frying in the sun. Schedule indoor attractions during the hottest part of the day so you are inside out of the sun and in air conditioning. Drink a TON of water - even if you don't think you are thirsty, drink it anyway. Find a nice shady spot to rest and relax while eating a snack. Use the pool later in the afternoon or evening when the sun isn't at it's hottest and find chairs in a shady spot around the pool. Dress for the extremely hot weather - shorts and tank tops or light t-shirts, and wear a hat to keep the sun from beating down on the top of your head. Listen to your body - if you are feeling tired take a rest. There is no shame in heading back to your resort room if you are just done with crowds and heat - there is always something to do at your resort.

Going as soon as school gets out (late May/early June) will be our annual trip. Just pick a place that has a pool you like and take a long break mid day and you should have a great time. We used those cooling towels and that helped too. Only way those temps are a problem is if you didn't know they were coming. You do, so plan accordingly and you will be fine.

We last went the first week of June. I was prepared for lots of crowds, but found it to be VERY manageable. As long as you have a good plan and do rope drop, you will do fine! We also took advantage of the warm weather to enjoy the water parks, which were AMAZING! The temperature was hot and humid, but not any worse than what we are used to in Iowa. We made sure to drink plenty of water, had spray/misting fans, and also Frogg Toggs to keep us cool. Morning and evening touring was fine temperature wise. For the afternoons we would stick more to rides or attractions that were air conditioned. We have also visited in October. I found that to be even more humid than in June, which I thought made the trip less desirable. Overall, I think if you are prepared for heat and humidity then you will do fine! We will be returning this summer in early June again. We cannot wait!

Her first bought was at Universal on a Monday, she did not throw up there, but had a high heart rate. The worst occasion was at Hollywood Studios, that's what they said it was at the medical center...?

This is what I'm thinking. We are going in June this year because we will be going with family and my niece is performing at Disney Springs. But our future trips will most likely be mid-end August. We are in eastern PA and I'm hoping that at the end of our summer, it won't be such a hard adjustment. We went in November 2015 and the temps were in the 90s and it was a bit of a shock to the system.
