How bad is HDDR cat 3 ?

It looks like after all of my intensive ADR/park planning, we may have to switch our HDDR ressies. The only day that has anything available other than cat 1 (we are on DDP) is for a cat 3.

We currently have a cat 2 ADR and have always had cat 2 on the main floor, so I don't know how bad the view is from cat 3. Will I not enjoy the show if we go with cat 3?

Thanks for the input.:goodvibes

We've done both two and three. I do prefer 2, but we laughed just as hard and enjoyed the food just as much from 3.

In August, we were in Cat 1, so I can't answer your question from direct experience, but about half of Cat 3 seating (the performers seemed to refer to it as "the shelf") was occupied, and they all looked like they were enjoying it just as much as we were. Just realize, that you will need to turn your chair around from the table to see the show since the tables are a bit back from the railing.

We love Category 3!!! Sat there the past 3 times!!! We love that you can see everything from above. On the floor everything is one level so younger kids could have trouble seeing the stage. We love that the chairs spin around so you can lean over the railing and watch the show or spin around and enjoy your meal!!

Ooooh, swivel chairs make all the difference if you have to turn around to see the stage!:thumbsup2 That way you're not constantly turning just your head. Thanks.:goodvibes

I was just thinking the same... Last time we sat in cat 1 ..great seats..great view... This time I thought it might be nice to save some dollars ( I looked ..not that big of a savings..every bit helps) The people upstairs seemed to be enjoying themselves.. DD was only 14 months...this time she will be 5... I think we might enjoy the cat 3..

We booked category 3 for our recent trip and since cat 1 hadn't sold out they moved people to cat 1. We were actually in the very center of the floor.

We sat in cat 3 last time we were there. We were the table closest to the stage (very far end of the narrow part of cat 3) which I would think may be the 'worst' seat in the place, but it was just fine. We thought the show was great, the swivel chairs made it fine, and the view was fine too - not quite as good as front and center would have been, but certainly nothing to complain about either. WE really enjoyed the show, and would book cat. 3 again in a heartbeat.

When we went we were Cat 1, and honestly, if we go again I'd do Cat 3 without a doubt. The performers spent lots of time "on the shelf" (love that expression), yet didn't give our table a second glance.

Enjoy -- the food was good and we had a great time!

(Darn you, now you have me thinking about their cornbread. Yummmmm)

I could be wrong, but don't they offer Cat. 1 with dining for the 9ish show?

We did cat 3 when DD was 6. Have not watched the show in any other categories but 3 was great! We could see everything, we are also "leaners" and having the rail right there was perfect :lmao:. Going next April and I want cat 3 again but others in our party (who have never been there) want to try for cat 2.

Cat 3 is also nice if you want a little less commotion - DD is in the autism spectrum and sometimes can get a little nervous about loud noises/crowding. There are single long tables "on the shelf" as opposed to many tables all around on the main floor. We also got great photos from that vantage point :thumbsup2
