How bad is early June

Planning on a 2017 trip with my parents. My dad is a teacher and I'm a tax accountant so our only options are summer or Christmas. I'd like to avoid Christmas at all costs.

I was thinking 2nd week in June. How bad are the crowds and heat? Will we be miserable?

It'd be my parents who will be 59, my husband and i, and two kids 9 and 5.

They will be heavy but manageable. Many southern schools get out starting Memorial Day weekend. We usually do this second or third week of June, but did Memorial Day week this year due the kids' schedules.

The hours are generally longer in the summer. It will most likely be hot and it will rain in the afternoon for a short period most days. We try to do rope drop when it is cooler and crowds are lower. We will leave the park for an afternoon break. That may include lunch, swimming and/or napping. We usually head back around 5:00 PM. It is still hot but the temp drops a little later and the sun becomes less of an issue.

This link shows what the hours were for June 2015:

The easywdw site produces crowd calendars for each day of each month and explains why they (really he) chooses those parks. Josh also provides touring plans for each park. More importantly, in my view, he follows his plans and reports how they work. Touring Plans and Undercover Tourist also provide crowd calendars and recommended parks.

Go as early in the month as you can, in order to beat the worst of the crowds. Keep in mind that early June has historically included Star Wars Weekends at HS, so that's a plus if you want to attend, or a park you'll want to avoid until a weekday.

There's no way to predict the weather in 2017, but it only gets hotter as you get farther into June. This year it was really manageable.

Plan on doing Rope Drops to beat the crowds and heat and you should have no problems. We were at WDW the first and second weeks of June this year and, using some of the plans linked in the post above, we never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride -- most were shorter than that.

We just went 6/6-6/10.
HOT, CROWDED.
but.....with planning, manageable. We didn't ever wait more than 15 min for anything because of rope drop, fp+ and back out late at night. we took long breaks every afternoon. Unfortunately, we were staying at All Star Sports and did not get much relaxation or relief from the heat by the pool. It was always packed with tons of people throwing balls back and forth, water was really warm and their were pool side games going on constantly with the CM on a microphone. Good for some people, not for us.

I went first week June couple of years ago. I found the heat and crowds ok, but it rained a LOT. Like almost every day. and we were very wet a lot of the time. I would suggest figuring out how to stay dry in case that happens during your visit. The worst were the shoes. Just soaked. Maybe carry light flip flops and a small towel in a back pack, switch out shoes if it starts to rain a lot? I'd love to hear other "keeping dry" ideas.

Curious as to why you didn't go to the other pool; the one without the scheduled afternoon kid entertainment and pool party.

We were ther this June from the 6th-14th, so I'm thinking this is the week you are looking at as well. It was crowded, but not nearly as bad as I was expecting. It was hot, but not nearly as hot as we were expecting, either. We also did rope drop most days, with several hours around the pool in the afternoon. (We stayed at Pop, and intentionally chose the pool with the activities for our daughter, but I would not say that it was ever crowded, and the pool area is gigantic. We could have just as easily chosen either of the other two pools if we were looking for quiet. ) we didn't head back into the park until 6:00 or even 7:00. We spent most of our evenings at MK because it was open later and we rode all kinds of rides with little to no wait, especially during and after Wishes. In our experience, it was absolutely true that SB wait times are greatly inflated. Don't be afraid to get in line! We were lucky, it only rained twice while we were there, and we wore ponchos a bit in the evening at HS, but the other time it didn't effect us at all. However, it is pretty typical for it to rain every day in the summer in Florida. Take or buy ponchos and trudge forth!

A pic of the pool at about 2:00 pm...image.jpg

We went the first week of June this year and it was crowded but very manageable. We went the third week of June last year and it was a bit more crowded but still ok. I'm a teacher too. I would love to be able to go in October or the first week of December. Never gonna happen.

Thanks for the information guys!

That trip will most likely be a value trip. I am thinking either pop century or all star music. My husband will be out of the military by then, so we'll have to say goodbye to the salute tickets and discounts.

Anyone know what kind of discount has historically been offered on values second week of June?

Are little mermaid rooms at aoa still excluded from discounts?
