How bad is All Star Sports?

I think my main concern is all the construction and renovating going on at the moment. We like afternoon naps and I don't want to hear hammering, etc. going on.

I just read the current schedule for the renovations; so, I specified a room request for a building that is already done.

The construciton was irritating. And when you are walking past the pool, the jackhammers are really annoying. But I never noticed ANY noise in my room and we were in the building closest to the renovations and I put an easily-awakened baby to sleep several times in early afternoon. We were on the backside of this building.

The only time we were in any way inconvenienced was one morning they were painting our doorway. That was a bit odd as we were exiting our room with 3 kids and a big stroller (and then forgot something and had to come back!)

I think you'll be fine.

We love Sports. We have stayed at AKL, BWI and Sports. DH and DS let me know that we are staying at Sports on our next trip. We just have to decide when that will be.

Just remember that it is a value resort. There are no bell hops and such, but there is an awesome food court. You may decide that you like it.

I agree with you about the food court- did you ever try the chicken quesadilla? This is a favorite of my son and myself. My hubby and I are traying CSR for this upcoming trip and I have noticed they also service chicken quesadillas on their menus and I am wondering if they are as good as AS Sport's ones.

The chicken quesadillas are fantastic....the turkey plate and roast chicken was also delicious...

I like the burgers and fries as well. Has anyone stayed at this resort during Pop Warner as I have heard that it can get quite crowded. Last year my younger son and I stayed at AS Sports starting 12/8 and there was a high school basketball tournament going so alot of youngsters were at this resort but we never had a problem out of any of them- they were very respectful.

I've stayed at all three All-Star hotels and Sports was actually my favorite. We stayed in the Touchdown building. Our room was right off of the football field play area and right next to the check-in and food court -- AWESOME location.

The bus service for Sports seemed to me to be the best of the three All-Stars. Maybe they pick up Sports first and drop them off first? I can't remember for sure, but I seem to recall that.

We stayed there in a February, which happened to be during a cheerleading convention. We were concerned about that when we checked in, but it wasn't a problem at all. The girls were very sweet and you could tell they were excited to be at Disney. It made for a very festive atmosphere.

The All Star Sports is a great resort. However, when the cheerleaders or the Pop Warner kids are in residence, then All Star Sports is not a good choice.

Hey,
We stayed at All Star last Aug. on the Free Dining Plan and had a blast. I have stayed at all the moderates and Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge (my favorite) = but we had a great time at All Star Sports. They were painting when we were there- so the place should look good. Short trip to the bus stop, never waited long. I did tip the housekeeper and she really responded. Gave me a new bedspread, extra towels, wash cloths. It was only a couple of bucks and not every day. But it did make a difference!!
I really liked the theming and would stay there again in a heart beat.:thumbsup2

I saw you posted about being in Touchdown and being right next to food and check in. Can I ask what building and where or even room #? I'm looking to stay in that section and want to be close to those things too.

We'll be arriving at All Star Sports on December 8th. Does anyone know if the Pop Warner group will still be there? That's my only concern about Sports.

I think Dec 8 or 9 is the PW groups last day at WDW. So you might have to put up with them for one night, but after that it should quiet down considerably.

There were tons of Baseball groups there when we were there, and several volleyball groups. When they saw the ages of our kids they put us as far away from the groups as possible. Our schedule was gone early in the am, home for a mid-afternoon nap, home fairly early. Other than the Baseball pool (which we didn't use) we never really noticed the groups. When we were walking past them on our way back from the Music pools it did feel a bit chaotic but lots of 13 year old boys in no way diminished our trip. One sight I thoroughly enjoyed was watching the boys play football on the big football field. It was so nice seeing them enjoying the place.
