How bad are the crowds in August?

We usually go during the not-so-crazy times of the year. Haven't been in August since we figured out how quiet Nov-Dec is!!! But it's our daughter's 1st birthday :bday: Still can't believe it...but anyway....

My DH and I are trying to figure out how to spend our time there. We're taking a short weekend trip and only have 2 days (of course Friday & Sat). We're going August 11th & 12th. We're staying at Universal (they take our dog :dogdance: ) but we want to go to a few Disney parks.

Do the crowds thin out at all at night? I figured the extra magic hour parks would be crazy...and we'd just hit the ones without them. What's the best time to enter the park to avoid the crowds and the heat? We're willing to avoid the parks all day if that's better. We could do other productive things like SHOP :yay: Poor DH!!!!

Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks y'all!!!!!!!!

The later in the month, the smaller the crowds as kids go back to school. We never waited more than ten minutes when we went 8/24 - 8/31. We're going a week sooner this year, but are hopeful. I'm not sure about EMH in the evening, but I think you're smart to avoid the morning EMH parks. I'd guess anytime after 4:00 will see crowds thinning out as people head to dinner or have just lost steam! Good luck!

We go every time in August since our kids are older. I love toward the end of August. The Europeans seem to be leaving....end of holiday... and most kids who live in the south are back to school. WE LOVE IT!!!! Did I mention, we love August? We are going the 17-24. We really have never waited long at all. As a matter of fact, MK was dead the day we went. We were on tea cups, cars, dumbo, and saw Ariel in an hour. WOW!!! Plus, we woke up tinkerbell. Have fun!!! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I usually go in late August and the crowds are minimal!

Well this is great to hear, I leave for my first trip the
18-27th and hope that the crowds are minimal. I know it'll be hot, but I have done alot of research thanks to every one on these boards.

13 more days  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

YAY good to hear!!! I'll be doing the first part of my honeymoon August 23-30!!! We'll be hot and get rained on, but we won't be trampled to death by crowds!!! :teeth:

Thank You! It's so nice to have a question and have so many "veterans" that are willing to help you out!!!

I'm so relieved to hear the crowds are not that bad. Although we're not there at the end of August...more like the middle...it sounds like it won't be as crowded as the rest of the summer. I think we'll hit the parks at night to avoid the sun. We've never tried that...I'll let you know how it works out.

I hope you all have a wonderful time in Disney this August...wishing you sunny skies, low humidity and endless fastpasses for all...
thanks again!

Oh...almost forgot!!!! CONGRATULATIONS :bride: on your upcoming marriage!!! Your countdown is adorable. My husband & I had part of our honeymoon in Disney and it was magical!!! Best wishes to you both
