How bad are MLK weekend crowds?

Trying to plan a short DLR trip. I learned the hard way (last August) how painful DLR is when it's really crowded. I can handle waiting in long lines for rides and character greetings but I can't handle the kind of crowd where you can't even move, so I'd like to avoid that.

Sooo . . . how bad is MLK weekend?

We went in 2007 on the Fri, Sat & Sun of MLK and found the crowds to be tolerable. We were expectign the worst and it really didn't materialize. However, there is a big convention in town (NAMM) that tends to cause all the hotel rooms to be booked early (and drives up prices on those remaining), so you might want to book a fully refundable room reservation while you try to decide. -- Suzanne
