Ours just ended yesterday! First time out for us , it was fun, but very time consuming! Between 2 troops we sold 204 boxes!Youngest DD's troop leader is giving me the impression it's a contest to her and her DD!She called me the other night to remind me that forms have to be turned in by the 28 and I told her I already turned it in and was waiting for the cookie mom to call and say she received it( I sent it to school with my oldest via kid mail) and I said that I hadn't heard from the cookie mom yet and was going to call her to make sure she had it,casually saying that it would be a shame to loose all of the boxes DD had sold and in reply the troop leader said 'Oh we managed to sell more than that"... Silly me for thinking this was to support the troop and not a competition!:rolleyes1

I hate how they make it a competition...anyway...
our sale just started last week, and I think as of today we have 170 boxes sold. This too is our first year selling them. It is ok..in the few short days I have been selling them, I learned one important thing.
Don't believe guys when they tell you they aren't going to buy them....just bring a couple cookies into work with ya...have extras in the car....and wow, I have sold about 40 boxes that way:rolleyes1 (silly guys, they just can't resist them :teeth:)

Gotta love some leaders. And before anyone flames me, I'm a leader. Sounds like both your girls did a great job with the sale. 100+ boxes each is awesome!:thumbsup2 The troop gets alot of money from the cookie sale. I would ask what the intentions are for the cookie money. You are definitely within your rights to do this. I got 3 girls from another troop this year when their leader decided not to do it anymore. The mothers were rather agitated and thinking of dropping scouts. Apparently they took ALL the cookie money and went to BABW. I have no problem with BABW but it was ALL the money. The kids spent about $60 each there.:scared1: The mothers were upset when the kids voted to go there again this year but I assured them that they only got to vote on the place. I supplied the dollar amount and decided how to spend the rest of the money. So $25 to BABW, $10 to a children's theater production, and $15 to a camping try-it program being run through council.

Our sale was in the fall. I'm glad that its behind us. It was a lot of work for everyone involved, especially the cookie mom. She did a great job and hopefully she will do it again next year. Besides, I really like the fact that we had our money by the end of November and had the majority of the year to spend it.

:thumbsup2 Great job on the cookie sale.

Quick question, do have the physical boxes of cookies or the order form? We had the order form and then delivered. I think you are right that you sell more boxes when you have them with you.

Our troop is hoping to use some of the money to pay for the camp jamboree in may.

I definately plan on finding out at the next meeting!

We sold 150 and once we hit that we stop. Some kids sell 2 boxes the whole sale so it gets a bit aggravating to the ones that put forth an effort that the ones that don't reap the same benefits as those that try. Last year the troop went to some kiddie beauty place, they had makeovers, hair done, dress up clothes, kiddie manicures and pedicures...they had fun there. Not sure what they are voting on this year, they give them a choice of 3 or 4 places and the troop votes.

That is very aggravating!! my dd wants the 'prize' for hitting 127 boxes....we hit that in the first 2 days, between my job, my DH's job, and my sister's myspace friends:rolleyes: ...I said that we were done....but I have had so many people keep asking for more,I can't say no. In fact I have to go pick up 4 more cases at 9am. and we still have 3 more weeks left:headache:

My daughter just started selling two weeks ago. Her troop leader would like all the girls to sell 155 boxes of cookies. As of right now she has sold around 124, which is more then I thought we would sell. I hate that it is so competitive. I do not have a competitive bone in my body. Some girls sell 400 boxes. I always tell the leader we will sell what we sell, I am not going out of my way. We have no family here. I do not work. My husband works in a VERY small office, so he gets a few orders there. I hate going door to door. We always ask the neighbors who know us, and they always buy. This year my daughter wanted to go door to door. I told her ok, only the small block we will go around. Most people do not even answer the door, and the other people say no. I cant stand going door to door.
The worst thing about selling all these cookies, is having to deliver them, and collect the money.

I think you are doing great with the restrictions you have(not much family, not many coworkers)
I can't believe they want you to sell 155 boxes!!! I don't blame you for telling them that you will sell what you can.
I think our troop is aiming for 45 boxes each. I don't remember.

Is anyone else surprised that the money goes towards BAB and kiddie manicures :rotfl2: . Honestly, I always thought the money went towards the foundation or something, not individual rewards. Very insightful. I don't remember that when I was a girl scout but that was 20 years ago (OMG... 20 years ago  ). Well, I hope my contribution of 3 boxes (so far :rolleyes1 ) gets the kid a nice polish change ;) :rotfl:

P.S. Didn't read the full title of the thread... I saw Girl Scout cookies and :hyper: (there is no drooling smilie)

We've sold around 200 boxes on preorders, which, I think, end tomorrow. This was about the same as last year (her first cookie year). When the cookies come, I get extra boxes and sell them. She usually manages another 75 boxes that way. Then, there are the booth sales. Her troop leader's DH owns some gas stations, so that's pretty lucrative. Last year, she picked up another 100+ boxes.

It will probably total between 300 and 400. If she gets to 400, her camp is free this summer! Regardless, the troop plans to take the $$ and have a "lock-in" at the local YMCA. Last year, they had a sleep-over at the zoo and a pizza party.

AAACCKKK on some of your leaders!:scared1:

I was a leader for many years with my oldest dd. Now my youngest is in the troop and I am the troop cookie mom.

My dd sold 37 boxes. That is it. Only 2 girls in the troop sold over 200. We have 10 girls.

We are doing 2 booth sales and have to sell 180 boxes which will give our troop and extra 99.00? Geesh if I was leader I would not do it but I am not.

I hate cookie sales now. People just do not want to buy them like the old days. 3.50 for 1 box of cookies makes it very hard to sell alot.

these are the kind of things I remember from girl scouts.

Most of it does, the troop gets like 50 cents (could be less, I forget at the moment) for each box sold and the kids get to have their party with that money. Most just goes to girl scouts, not the girls.

I find just the opposite, when we go and ask if they want to buy they always say "are they still only 3.50 a box" and most people buy 3 or more boxes, we don't have anyone that just buys one or 2. We have orders for 8 boxes each from 4 people and one person bought a whole case of thin mints (12 boxes) so they are pretty easy to sell.

Doesn't matter to me... as long as I get the goods :teeth: . It was just a bit surprising.

The first year wesold the kids were Daisys and they used the money to buy them all the brownie vests they would need..wasn't a fun way to the girls to use the money but the parents liked it LOL....
