If one wanted a use dated towards the end of the year how would you get this?

If this seems silly, play nice, this is my first post, LOL!

I don't understand your question. :confused3 Could you explain more please.

Disney is usually selling a use year 4 to 5 months prior to the date you purchase. Since many people vacation around the same time each year, that usually works out well for them.

You may request a different use year. Disney will accommodate if at all possible (and it usually is, LOL).

It's best to have a use year that falls right before your normal vacationing months, so that if you did have to cancel you would still have time to either book another trip or bank your points

EX.. You have a December UY and normally travel over Thanksgiving week. If something would to happen and you had to cancel before 31 days out, you could not bank any of those points.. Where as if you had a August. UY you could cancel up to 31 days out and bank those points to the next year...

 Oh and WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!

if you typically vacation in nov/dec, it is best to get a use year month of sep/oct.

if you buy a resale contract, you have to wait for a suitable contract with that use year to show up.

if you buy direct - as carol said - you can request a specific use year month and disney will usually try to work with you.

You guys are FAST! Thanks.

So if you have decided that a certain USE year is better for your family, can you ask/receive it, or would it be better to just wait and buy maybe 4 or 5 months past that date to get that use year.

If this sounds silly, it may be. I don't even know what if any date for a use year would be better or worse that what you are given at random.

We only just came off of the MAGIC and to kill some time we attended a DVC presentation. Two Magic cruises in the last two years, yea we love Disney!

All of those years in the parks we usually avoided those stations like the plague!! Now for the life of me I can't imagine why, now we really want to get in on the action.

You can request a use year if you want to.They will let you know if that is availible. It dont hurt to ask,DVC will do everything than can to make you happy.DVC is great for sure I dont think that you will regret it.

What type of incentives are normal? On the cruise they were offering:

160 pts

$10.00 per pt discount
free 100 pts
back date to Aug 07 with no maint dues
$500 credit

225 pts

$10.00 per pt discount
free 200 pts
same back date and $500 credit

We're not sure if we passed up a REALLY good deal or not, DVC said that it was a cruise SPECIAL, but I've never been one to buy without any research.

SO,... just how special of a deal was that?

Thats better than they are offering through DVC you would not get the 500.00 credit and to get the developer points you would need a referral from a DVC member. So yes the cruise one is a really good deal.I dont know how that works once you are off the cruise and then decide to buy.Or you could try getting ahold of a guide and see if they would offer it to you. Also i know with a referral the promo ends today with the 10.00 off at ssr and 8.00 off at AKV along with the developer points ends at the end of today.
If you happen to ned a referral let me know and I would be happy to help.
here is the current offer through today
New Member Deals With a Referral
2 different options

option #1
160 pt minimum purchase
$96 per point net ($104 - $8 off incentive) at Animal Kingdom Villas
$94 per point net ($104 - $10 off incentive) at Saratoga Springs

option #2

Thanks,

You post here a lot, hot blondes always get noticed!!LOL

I've been mostly lurking here since we got off the cruise, first week of Feb for Mardi Gras. I really was looking on line for bad experiences with DVC.

You know, seeing what would pop up with a google of, "DVC sucks" or something like that. Nothings come up bad, thats a pretty good sign.

LOL,Well thanks and yes I have been a member of the boards for over 5 years.I found the board after we bought into DVC and I was looking for the same thing you was and I still have not been able to find anything bad about it.

I just bought last week. They were selling UY December. I told them my needs and I goy UY August. The rep needed a managers approval, but if it means making a sale they will accomodate your UY request.

If you tour at the parks, they offer a one time incentive that you have to take advantage of within so many days of returing home. Did they offer a time period like that to you on the cruise? Most incentives like that have a one time offer aspect to them. Some incentives are connected to referals from existing members (like the one that expires today), and some are only offered at the Chicago preview center. My guess is that passing up one offer doesn't necessarily mean another and possibly better one isn't lurking around the corner. There is always some sort of incentive offer, and how good it is depends on how anxious they are to sell.

Oh, and you don't have to be blond, young or hot to have a lot of posts here!;) :rotfl:

Actually this raises a great point. I purchased AKV last week and as pinnocchiosdad said I received a December UY. We always travel at the end of September, but with banking points I didnt think it was a big deal. Until luvindisneyworld made the point about having to cancel and losing those points!! I just called my CM and left him a message to see if I can change my UY. Since the purchase is final I dont think they will be able to change it, but its worth a shot!

No, if your purchase has closed, you wont be able to change it. It would be like buying one condo and wanting to take possetion of the one next door. If it makes you feel any better, in 11 years of taking 2-3 DVC trips a year, we have NEVER had to cancel on short notice. Not that it wont EVER happen, but it isn't something that is going to happen often enough to worry about.

Thanks for your words of encouragment. According to what people are saying I wouldnt be able to get an earlier UY anyway at AKV. I seriously doubt we would ever have to cancel and LOSE the points, but it makes ya nervous to even think about it!

Thanks again,

Brian
