Funny, we are going to be there the same days, but leaving the 3rd. My kids are 10 and 14, celebrating an 11th birthday that week too.

We had a CM dinner one night, for my DD's 8th bday, but it was 3 years ago. We hated it. The characters were nice, but the food was one of the worst meals we had. Even my kids still will not go back there. Hopefully the food is better now. It's a very loud place. Hopefully you will get a better server too. We put on our ADR that it was a birthday, but nothiing at table to look celebratory, and the server after giving our card back at the end of the meal, said, oh yeah, it was a birthday, here's a cupcake for the kid. No box, no candle, no happy birthday pick. DD didn't eat the cupcake either, only the icing.

I haven't tried either RFC at WDW, but I did the one out in Disneyland. Didn't like the food, but the theme is great.

Can't comment on Prime Time either. Most people seem to like it. For whatever reason, never appealed to my kids.

Teppan Edo is one we haven't tried either, but my DD wants her birthday dinner there. So, we will also see. We have the same type of restaurants where we live, so nothing special, but my DD really likes asian food.

I can't say about the other resaurants either, sorry. Never been to them. However, we too will experience O'Hana for dinner. We had a breakfast there, and the food was really good. My kids loved playing with Stitch and Lelo.

Have a great vacation!

JMO from our experiences:

Chef Mickeys- one place we will never eat again. All we did was wait wait wait to sit!! We checked in 15 minutes before our ADR and waited an hour for a table for 3. The food wasn't great and the characters and meal felt rushed. There are better character meals.

Liberty Tree Tavern- We love it for lunch, not so much for dinner. The food was just so so.

Rain Forest- Food is okay, the theming is great. We like it there

Prime Time Cafe is fun if you get a good server, otherwise it's just another themed restaurant. The food is good. We always get the "leftovers"

Tony's Town Square- YUCK! Unless you like Olive Garden and Pizza Hut type dinners I wouldn't go. It's not good Italian. But I judge that having grown up in an Italian family knowing REAL italian cooking and living in NY with some great restaurants. We would never eat there again. But like any place else, some love it, some hate it. You gotta try it to know what you think.

'Ohana is another that people either love or hate. We love it! I thought all the food was great. I loved the lomein type noodles I think they got tired of bringing bowls to our table. It is our favorite meal of the trip and a must do!

We never tried Teppen Edo or Coral Reef. Neither appeal to us.

Chef Mickey's While we really enjoy breakfast here, dinner is another story. My girls love the characters and the fun atmosphere, but the food at dinner is not good at all---and I'm not that picky. Still, my daughters would think it's a fun place to eat for their birthday.

8/26-MK
Liberty Tree Tavern We ate here once. I preferred it when they had the characters here. The food wasn't memorable--not bad or great.

8/27-Animal Kingdom
Rainforest Cafe-Downtown, if we can do AK location we will go there
If you're planning on being at AK, I would try to eat at the location there before I traveled all the way to DTD. Time consuming for sure!! I think the kids would enjoy it, but for me (just my opinion) I would rather eat at Tusker House. I like the idea of eating at WDW specific restaurants, not chains.
8/28-Epcot
Teppan Edo Great pick!

8/29-DHS
Prime Tiime Cafe I haven't eaten there, because the options at DHS don't appeal to us; we hop over to Epcot to eat. If I were to eat at DHS, this is the restaurant I would choose.

8/30-MK
Tony's Plaza It wasn't a favorite of ours, but it wasn't bad either. Just not great. I think I would rather eat at Crystal Palace where there are more options. Another option is to leave MK and take the monorail or boat to the Poly and eat at Kona.

8/31-Epcot
Coral Reef Against less than stellar reviews, we tried this restaurant anyway. It wasn't for us. The food wasn't great by any means and the service was horrible. I can forgive the service, everyone has a bad night. The food wasn't good enough for us to want to try it again though. I would choose Biergarten instead. Good food, something for everyone, fun atmosphere/setting. With all that said, there are many people who love Coral Reef. Try it for yourself to form your own decision. I just gave you our impression of it.

O'hana My favorite restaurant!!! Food is delicious and there's a fun atmosphere.

I sounded tough on your meal choices, but wanted to be honest with our past experience. However, keep in mind that we all have different tastes, likes, opinions. I have tried restaurants that others frowned upon that we found we loved. Good luck with your decisions. No matter what route you go, you'll have a great time just being in WDW.

I think you have good picks but if your kids are young I would swap something for another character meal. Maybe Tony's for Crystal Palace, Rain Forest for Tusker House lunch or Tappen Edo for Garden Grill.
