How are these t-shirts holding up in the wash?

I am scared:eek: to wash them. I found this board on Sun and I have made about $100 worth of tshirts for my family in a weeks time. My dh thinks I am nuts. I will try and post some pics if not before I leave when I return. Here is my question. I see that it says turn them inside out to wash go that. Can you iron the shirt as long as its inside out? My dh wanted to wear one today to sort of rub in at work since we have snow here. But I was like no way! I don't want to have to wash it and something happen to it before the trip. If something is going to happen to them I don't want to know until afterwards. I am in my happy place now. At least I will have the pics of them if nothing else. So I guess I am just looking for some reassurance that these transfers wash well!

My sister made me 3 a couple of years ago and as of now, I am still wearing them:) They are a little faded, but they are still wearable...

I just made 10 sweatshirts for my grand gathering in Jan, and they all looked great... until I washed them. Now all of them are faded, cracked and some the transfer is peeling up! I was following the instuctions, washed in gentle cycle, cold water, air dry etc. So now I have to redo them all.
My advice, don't wash!

My dark t-shirt transfers bled, faded, and cracked. My white t-shirt transfer shirts are still beautiful through a few washes. Good luck!

I made some in May 2006 using dark transfers, I purchased the transfers at Walmart. They lasted months and months and lots of washing. If you wash your shirts first and iron following directions exactly, they really do wash up just fine. Eventually they do wear out and crack, but I got at least 10 washings before I noticed much wear, with the exception of one shirt that must not have been ironed on as well, it cracked pretty quick, probably after about 4 washes. At first I was washing inside out as to protect them, but as time went on I got lazy and just tossed them in the wash.
Now, I just made about 20 more for our trip next week and I want the "first wearing" to be at Disney so they are pristine, but after we get back, I expect them to washed and worn plenty.

I made about 20 for our trip in October and except for one of my son's Epcot t-shirts they have all done pretty well. And I should add that his Epcot one didn't adhere that well to begin with - it was one of the first and I had a little "operator error" with the iron/transfer.:goodvibes

The kids wear them at least once a week so I'm pretty happy - it looks like they will grow out of them first. I did both light and dark transfers and I like the look of the dark but the light do seem to look less "ironed-on" if that makes any sense.

Just a few more posts and I can finally post the pics of the t-shirts! I can't wait to thank the wonderful and talented Disigners!:thumbsup2
