How are these restaurants???

We are going to WDW with two other families and one family chose to book with a different TA. Well it turned out the TA was useless (told them to just walk into restaurants or tag along on our ADR's--NOT) and only booked 3 TS meals for 7 nights (We have had our ADR"s since April and in June I gave the TA all the info of where to book). With less than two weeks to go I helped out and booked the remaining meals for them but was not able to get them at any of the restaurants we are going to (which I warned them about ahead of time and they were ok with they just wanted to eat at around the same time and in the same vicinity so we could easily meet up for touring). So this is what I got for them:

Kona Cafe
Chef Mickey's breakfast (booked by TA)
Boma (booked by TA)
Grand Floridian Cafe
Princess Storybook Breakfast (booked by TA)
Alfredo's
Maya Grill

Other than Kona (which we've been to before and loved) I am wondering what the other places I booked are like. How is Grand Floridian Cafe, Alfredo's and Maya Grill? I printed off a copy of the menus for them and I figure if they are not happy they can make the changes.
:wave2:

We really like Grand Floridian Cafe. We've had several nice meals there. Alfredo's is one place we will not be going back to.. the food and service was just not good! We haven't been to Maya Grill.

It amazes me how often people get bad advice from travel agents. I know there are great ones out there, thank goodness!

Well their TA was not a Disney specialist just someone from a local mall who knew very little about WDW. When I spoke to her about trying to coordinate ADR's at the same time as ours she was convinced you didn't need them (basing this on a one time trip one Feb) and but agreed to try and book them --HA!! That's why we use DU they are great!! :earsboy:

I'm glad to hear GF Cafe is good, I have read mixed reviews on Alfredo's and Maya Grill. Oh well, like I said before they can make the changes I think they are lucky to have these considering how close we are getting. They do at least have Boma (which is another one of our favourites & the one meal the TA got at the same time as ours) and Chef Mickey's and the Princess Storybook Breakfasts are great for the character interaction and fun (food at thses places is secondary but not bad). Anyway thanks for the info. :thanks:

From your list I've only gone to Boma and it was one of our favorite dinners! The food is very different (although I'm sure Americanized) and there's a lot of selections. My personal favorite was the Ginger Carrot Soup and the Bobotie, YUMMY!

Definitely on my must do list for the next trip!

I see you are from Canada and was wondering if you are from western Canada. We are from BC and almost all of the TA's around here know next to nothing about WDW. I am usually telling them things, thanks to all I have learned on these boards and the internet. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I would forget Maya and book something else. Why not try for CP in MK I'm sure that would be a much better fit or Concourse Steakhouse.

I've eaten at Maya a couple of times and both were very enjoyable. OTH, I thought the Princess Sotrybook Breakfast was awful - BUT - this seems to be the only princess meal so I'd warn the parents, but also tell them to just suck it up for the kids... :) Boma is very good, and I'm trying Kona for the first time on my trip in 7 ( ) days.

Have a wonderful vacation!

their ADR's just to be sure no surprises when they arrive; and they may still want to try calling the day before or day of to see if any availabilities where you are eating.

Have a great trip!!!!

Actually, I am from Southern, Ontario but I agree there don't seem to be many Canadian TA's who are Disney Specialists (though I did see one on the Canadian boards she's in ON though). That's why we've always booked with Dreams Unlimited for our DCL cruise and trips to WDW. You can''t beat their prices or service IMHO. :goodvibes

HUG PUG I did try CP, Concourse Steakhouse and everything else in and around MK and there was no availability for the time they wanted. The Maya Grill (I know it's not around MK had the right time and then they could meet up with us later for touring) was recommended by the CM (she had eaten there several times) the menu seems interesting but I have read mixed reviews. I will encourage them though to try again to see if they can get a cancellation at one of our restaurants.

Are they staying at CSR? If not, I certainly wouldn't make a trip there must to eat at Maya Grill.

I just wanted to say I am from Fort Erie, Ontario, not far from Niagara Falls!

Anyway, I see that you only have 6 days left until your visit to WDW...have fun!!!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce:

Kona and Chef Mickeys breakfast are 2 of our favoirtes. I also enjoy Alfredos very much.
