How are the rooms at the Contemporary?? Never stayed at a WDW resort!

I've briefly walked through all of the deluxe resorts except Boardwalk. IMHO, the look of the Contemp. doesn't jive with me as the others do, but I do like it for the fact that Walt himself had a hand in its design. I hear that the standard rooms there are quite large. Is this true? How are the rooms decorated? Beds? Bathrooms? Are the rooms updated? Is the Contemp. a good value compared to the other deluxes?
FYI, DH and I would love to stay at the YC for the atmosphere and EPCOT, but it's out of my budget at this time.

I'd also love to see some photos of the CR rooms if anyone has them. Tell me your thoughts!

I was there Halloween of 2002. Cont. Towers facing MK. Go for that side, if possible. Fireworks show was incredible. Rooms large and modern. No complaints at all with this resort. If you have little ones you can't beat the walk to MK.

Hey aesalsa.

DH and I stayed there in September, in the North Garden Wing. Jim is right, you CANNOT beat the short walk to the MK. That was such a plus, I cannot tell you.

The rooms are huge. Here are some pictures, if the link from WDWIG works right:

DH and I were very happy here. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the positive reviews and photos. The rooms look very 1980s modern. Are the toilets separated from the sink area?
DH and I don't have little ones yet (but we hope we will in 2006!), but the location seems great for us "kids at heart". We ate at the Concourse Steakhouse quite by accident on our last trip in October. It was one of the best meals we had in WDW, and we really felt the spirit of Disney there ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo -- maybe it was the monorail cars whizzing by during our meal!! :wizard:

I can only answer for the North Garden Wing since I've never stayed at the Tower, and do not know how (if at all) different they are.

Yes, there was a separate room with just a toilet and a sink in the bathroom.

DH and I loved how accessible the MK was from our resort...you couldn't beat it with a stick, I tells ya.

We also really, really liked the Concourse Steakhouse. But you should try the California Grill at the top of the Tower! Excellent upscale cuisine and a breathtaking view, especially during the MK fireworks.

Just as many people love the CR as do dislike it. But based from my experience, I would recommend it. Hope you have fun no matter where you stay! ;)

Thnx again, hucifer!! Actually, we won't be going back to WDW until Dec. 2005, but I can't heelp thinking about it NOW :hyper: !!
We MIGHT take my little bro and sis (12 and 14 now) on that trip since they've never been. Either way, DH and I want to stay at a WDW deluxe resort--we'll have more money then!

hucifer, do you think your room at CR was a good value for a deluxe?

Oh wow, you aren't going for awhile. Looks like you'll have plenty of time to save up!

Okay...DH and I didn't pay the CR rate because we were able to get the room through the Shades of Green rate while they are under renovation...we're talking dirt cheap rates here. That said, I would probably pick the WL or AKL next time if we were paying full price. Why? To experience a differently themed deluxe resort. The only other deluxe resort I've stayed in was the Poly, but I was 9 and cannot remember too much about it.

If you take your brother and sister, by that time they will both be teenagers and may be more interested in MGM and Epcot than MK. That said, the proximity to MK may not be as much of an advantage anymore. Not sure, of course, but just throwing out another wrench in your plans.

Still...even with the SoG rate that we got...DH and I still think very fondly of the CR. Remember, picking the resort is half the fun! But staying on property is what really makes the trip magical, no matter where you stay.

:D We loved the CR!!!!

My husband and I stayed there this past Thanksgiving. We had a tower room with a Magic Kingdom view. I have never been a "view" person. But this view has changed that for me. To be able to lay in bed and look at Cinderella Castle change colors all night was nothing short of magical. The decor of the hotel never really did anything for me, but to my surprise, I really, REALLY liked it. Our meal at California Grill was Awesome!!!! We also ate at the Concourse Steakhouse and it was very good too. Had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and it was up to par.

Save your pennies and stay at the CR. I think you will really like it!:teeth:

Thanks so much, MinnieFan4ever!! We will be saving $$$ !! I remember that another thing that DH and I like was Minnie Mouse saying the floors on the elevators--That was great. I'm starting to warm up to CR already!! ::yes::
