My first thought is "are you sure you're looking at the Poly rooms?" LOL! That's the first time I've heard anybody post they thought they looked stuffy!;) We love the Poly, and really enjoy those bamboo canopies, for some reason! Love the soft, muted South Seas decor, very soothing. The size of the rooms is huge, compared to other WDW resorts. And, of course, if you have a LV, that view of the MK can't be beat!!:teeth: The Poly is a very laid-back, gorgeous resort, I'm sure you'll love it!:wave2:

that sounds wonderful! when i saw the pictures i didn't think that was what the rooms would realy look like. i'v been in the lobby but never stayed.
the place is to beatiful to have stuffy rooms i figured i should ask around. can you tell me anything else? thanx

The Poly has some of the biggest rooms of all the Deluxes. It was built before Disney decided to employ 'value engineering'. If I recall- they are 407 square feet, the next closest is GF and BC/YC at 400 square feet. By comparison WL and AKL are under 350 square feet. Stuffy- no way. Spacious!

I thought the rooms were nice. I had a "garden" view room in the Tokelau building, but it had a beautiful view of the lagoon & Grand Floridian. The pics are below.

The rooms in Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui are even larger 452 sq ft.

Yeah that is about half the size of my first condo!!!

Terk-1 Your GV room sounds great. That is what I am hoping for. Could you see the water pageant from your room? Do you remember your room number? I don't want to be right by the pool as I am a very light sleeper! Thanks and sorry for all the questions...

The rooms aren't stuffy - in fact they are large and "airy." A lot of brown but that doesn't bother me. We loved the extra space and the canopy. The whole feel of the Poly is laid back and relaxing. Gorgeous landscaping, excellent CMs, good food and drink...and the views are second to none.

I know what you mean. I thought that the rooms looked dark and out dated. It's also hard to get a good feel of the size from the pitcures. Once you get there I think that you will find the rooms to be just fine. Your going to have a blast, I'm sure. Have a great trip.

We stayed in Tokelau (3rd floor) this past March.

The room was very large. You could park a small car in there.

On the down side: Bathroom sink is "inside" the bathroom and the TV is on the small side. (But who sits in the room and watches TV?).

The slide at the volcano pool is awesome!

Just don't do what I did... ....put my sunglasses on the breakfast tray and then dumped the "trash" in the trash can by the pool.

I didn't realize what I had done with my sunglasses until an hour later. ...had to dig thru all the garbage in the trash can to retrieve my sunglasses.:crazy2:

OK so we are talking rooms! We are booked for a lagoon view which buildings would that be, we have specifically requested first floor as DS is afraid of elevators (lonnnnng story) and what would you guys recommend? I hope this isn't to off the original topic.

horsewings you'll absolutely love the Poly, especially in the evenings when it's dark, the torches are lit and you stroll around the grounds, heavenly!!

A majority of the LV rooms are in Tahiti (72). There are 30 in Tuvalu, 20 in Aotearoa and 3 in Tokelau.

There are stairs for the upper levels right next to the elevators on the outside of the buildings.

Request 1st Floor Tahiti! The rooms in Tahiti are the largest standard rooms on Disney property and the beach is sooo quiet down that end. Plus having a first floor means you can walk straight out on to the beach! With Tahiti there is not path in front of the first floor rooms so they are very private.

See my photo thread for further details, we stayed LV Tahiti and it was Magical!!!

I second that one.....request a first floor Tahiti! Awesome! We were just there in May and I had a LV room and I requested and recieved the Tahiti bldg. It was such a beautiful view each and every day. The early morning views of the lagoon and the castle as well as the fireworks in the evening were what made the vacation so special. We have never treated ourselves to a "deluxe" room before. It was so great we are going back to the Poly in October for the MNSSHP and of course the wonderful POLY!
You won't be dissapointed!

I don't find it to be stuffy at all. I feel very at hame and relaxed during our stay. The Tahiti is also my choice. :Pinkbounc

I'll take all your advise, thank you. We can't wait, especially DS as I printed out pictures of the pool area and he is so excited.
