How are the hotels and parks in May?

Fist weekend in May we are planning a short trip. Will it be crowded?

You will love it in May. We went last year, and it was GREAT!!! The crowds are manageable...waits not too long (use those fastpasses, they are great!), and the weather is fantastic! We keep trying all different times of the year, but I have to admit, May is our favorite thus far!!!

I agree with Eeyore! this will be our third time going in the beginning of May! we are going May 4 - 18th! May is fabulous all around! the crowds are very manageable, it is more crowded than September, but nothing that is overwhelming, we never have a problem! the weather is great also!
plus, my favorite, the flower and garden festival at Epcot, it is gorgeous!!

We, too, are great early May fans! In our experience the crowds aren't too bad and the weather is wonderful!

We took our first big family trip to WDW last May, the first week, and it was AWESOME!!!!! Click on the "family vacations" link below to see pictures of restaurants and parks and you will be able to see how low the crowds were! The parks are not open very late at night, that is the only downside, but since the crowds are so low, you are able to see and do a lot during the day, and it left us with time at night to go to Downtown Disney, and to enjoy our resorts and swim, and relax longer over dinner, etc. The weather was beautiful, warm but not hot, and we had no humidity at all. I highly recommend early May, as long as you're aware of shorter park hours.

March and May are our two favorite times to go. We didn't think the parks were too crowded and the weather is wonderful! I think you have picked an excellent time!

In previous years May has been a good time to go as far as crowds and hotel availability were concerned, but I just read a thread on the Theme Park board that a CM mentioned that they hired a bunch of new people that are currently training to help with the extra amount of people they're expecting this May.

It seems that all of the people who weren't able to or chose not to travel in the fall are booking rooms for April/May. I also understand that many of the hotels are sold out already for this time. I have a feeling WDW is going to be more crowded than usual for this time of the year.

We'll certainly take advantage of FP and will try to get to the parks early. We have all of our PS arranged for the most part. I do prefer to go during less busy times too, but our trip for the first weekend in May is planned so, crowds or not we'll be there

hi: another vote for anytime during the first 2 weeks of may. we've been doing this since 93 and absolutely love it. weather is generally good and crowds are relatively low. have a great trip!

We were there in May of 2000 and the parks were pretty empty! And the resorts were uncrowded too!
