Silly Question..

How powerful are the hairdryers in the cabins? I am thinking of not bringing mine.

weak weak weak weak. you will get better work done by standing on deck 10 in the wind.

Yah!
Another question I can answer!
...well, sort of. I think it all depends on the needs of your hair. Mine is fine and not too long so the DCL dryers are just as good as my own, maybe just a little slower. If you have thick or very long hair and are rushed for time, you'll probably be quite frustrated by the dryers on board.
Hope that helps.

My DD12 complained that the handle was hotter than the air coming out of it and had to wrap a hand towel around it. Next time I will bring my own.

I'd have to agree - the hair dryers are very weak and don't blow hot air.

Just be aware that if you bring your own, you will need to plug them in somewhere OTHER than the bathroom. The plugs in the bathroom are only rated for shavers.

Hair dryers and curling irons are one reason to bring a power strip or extension cord.

I guess all hair dryers are not created equal.
My DD is 13 and has LONG THICK hair, and had no problem with the in cabin hair dryer. It blew lots of very hot air.
But as you can see, others do. So, if you THINK you might have a problem, take a dryer and a power strip.
We didn't, and if we go again, we won't.

I have short hair and had no problem with the hair dryer in my cabin on Deck 6.

I have a different take on the hair-dryer issue ;)

It dried my hair well enough, but once I went outside, the humidity and wind made a unique design of my hair.

No dryer in the world would have made a difference.

Thanks for the warning! I have long hair and like to wash it after swimming and such....I will bring it along!

I packed a hair dryer before our first cruise because I had read that some people thought that the one in the stateroom was weak. It was a waste of time and space because the dryer was great.

I usually only partially dry my hair, but it is thick and I don't patience to spend too much time on it. My daughter is much more particular and dries her hair completely. Both of us liked the dryer in the room just fine.

Maybe if you want a very, very hot dryer you would not like it, but I don't think extreme heat is good for your hair anyway. We'll never pack a dryer again for a DCL cruise.
