How are the beaches?

We are leaving this Saturday for Disney:cool1: and hoping to go to the beach the following Saturday (the 17th). I was wondering if one of you locals could tell me what the conditions are right now, oil-spill-wise. I prefer the Atlantic side, was thinking about Canaveral National Seashore, but we're flexible. I haven't heard anything in a while about the FL beaches and was wondering if one coast/area is better than another. TIA.:)

I hesitate to post this link, but the question was asked.

Please read this carefully. Tar balls are not a rare occurrence and this small event is probably not related to the gulf spill.

We were just there yesterday and didn't see or hear anything about the tar balls --we did get sunburned--so op make sure you bring sunscreen and reapply often--really, really wish we had reapplied more often.

We live just south of Cocoa Beach on the same barrier island and our beaches are just fine! The tar ball that washed up was tested and I believe that it was not from the spill. Come and enjoy our beaches:thumbsup2
