We stay at AKV Kidani through point rentals.. Next trip I think we are staying directly through Disney in the hopes for free dining. I love Kidani's two bedroom! We are a family of 7 but next trip there will be 9 of us. Having that third full bathroom is great! Curious what the two bedroom villas are like at SSR compared to Kidani? This will be our first time staying at SSR. It will be our home away from home LOL We are from the actual Saratoga Springs NY :)

Hey, so I've stayed at both resorts, never in a 2 bedroom as my traveling party is never bigger than 5. But resort to resort, Animal Kingdom is better because it is more immersive however being that you are from Saratoga Springs NY you may really enjoy Saratoga Springs in Disney World.
I'm sure you've look at floor plans for the two and have read reviews of both, if you haven't already you should take a look at the walk through tours of the two to compare them. I have included screen captures of both floor plans for easy seeing of the differences from above.

Personally, I like Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom both, for different reasons. Animal Kingdom is a more whole experience plus you can't beat being able to see animals from your room, but Saratoga Springs is better on the aspects of being close to things unlike Animal Kingdom being a solid 40 minutes from anything but Animal Kingdom theme park.

Thank you! I would like the experience of being closer to Disney Springs, especially since our two oldest will be old enough to go out in the evening on their own if they want. My only concern is we will have 9 people and only two bathrooms. Plus I absolutely LOVE AKV! But it will be nice staying at a different resort :) How's the pool/waterslide at SSR? My kids would spend all day at the Kidani pool area.

There are two feature pools at SSR, both of which are pretty nice. The Paddock pool bar is one of the best.

We are also AKL lovers! We travel as a big group and usually rent enough points for 2 2-bedrooms. We prefer to be in Jambo House, but we seem to end up at Kidani more often. My kids aren't old enough to spend much time in the bathroom, but the 3rd one is nice. I also like the garage parking at Kidani, we usually end up much closer to the room than parking in the lot at Jambo. We absolutely love Boma for breakfast and dinner. It's my favorite restaurant in the whole world!
We've had great luck with bus service at AKL. It has never taken us 40 minutes to get anywhere! We don't usually go in peak seasons, so maybe that helps, but it's usually like 20 minutes to MK, faster to the other parks. I am certain we spend less time on AKL buses than we did at SSR.

We stayed at SSR last fall and I can't see myself ever staying there again. I know a lot of people absolutely love it there, so I'm not trying to talk you out of it. But FWIW, here's the opinion of a fellow AKL lover - The whole place is just missing the Disney magic. It's a gorgeous resort but when I'm at Disney, I want to know I'm at Disney. It's missing there. The gift shop at QS cast members were wonderful. The front desk CMs were knowledgeable, but lacking the Disney touch.

The room amenities are similar. The rooms were pretty, but nothing exciting. The pools themselves are equal to AKL. The main one feels oddly located in view of people coming in and out of the main building, the side where the gift shop / QS door is, and the walk to the DVC model area.

I forget the name of the QS place but I liked it better than the Mara. Lots of really nice choices. Dinner at the Turf Club was fine, but overpriced. We were on the dining plan (which for real, I won't do again, it always ends up costing more than when we pay oop for what we actually want each day).

The property is HUGE and we did a lot of walking. There is a bus that goes around the property, but you have to wait for it, then it makes the stops in each section. The park buses are the same. You can be on the bus a long time stopping in each section before you are actually headed to the parks. If you are in the first section to get picked up (that's where we chose), you are on the bus a long time. If you are at the end of bus loop, you risk the bus being pretty crowded by the time it gets to you. Some of the AK buses are shared with one of the water parks resulting in more time on the bus. Not a huge deal because we knew to expect it, but compared to AKL, it felt like we spent much more time on the buses.

If you stay there, I hope you love it. It wasn't like the worst vacation ever, just not our favorite place

We're from 20 minutes away from SSNY and DS went to HS in SS. The strangest part of being at Disney SS was how sort of familiar it strangely felt. I think I'd pick Kidani over SSR with 9 people, that 3rd bathroom is a deal breaker for me.

Rut Row, just plead the 5th. Don't get shamed.
There is only one king bed, one queen sleeper sofa and two queen beds in the SSR dedicated two bedroom villa. If a lockoff, one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa instead of two queen beds. If one of the nine is under the age of three, they would be okay. But for cash reservations, they are limited to eight persons aged three or older. If DVC points stay, they could have one more person aged three or older.
