How are moderators chosen?

LOL! Good answers... (IASW could probably be used to make me trust politicians and journalists in time!).. but like Jules, I would like to know what factors Pete looks at... anyone care to ask him? (I can't - I've always been slightly in awe of the term 'webmaster'.. as a former technophobe who ran away screaming from pc's until forced by changes at work to finally overcome my fears, I've always associated it with Tolkien- type wizardry!)

I believe they have to take an intelligence test.

If they find any evidence of intelligence, they are barred from being a mod.

And after that little gem, I think I may have to change my identity and leave the country.

Trust me Mike a few of the webmasters here are not a crowd to be in awe of I've met a fair few of them in my time and nearly always they had a drink (or 2) in their hands

If you ask me being a moderator is normally a thankless task** which you don't get paid for and takes up a lot of your time oh it's just like being a housewife(to be)

As for how Mods are picked? Well, we just can't tell you because there is no hard and fast formula - we just know 'em when we see 'em (and it has to coincide with a vacancy)

I was told that I had to go around 200 times! What's up with that?
